The @EuphratesCF team paid an advocacy and partnership visit to the Benue State Ministry of Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change in Makurdi as part of the RWVL-N Project being implemented with funding from @CanHCNigeria through @ActionAidNG .
The engagement focused on climate justice, environmental sustainability, gender-responsive climate action, youth participation, climate-smart agriculture, and strengthening community resilience across Benue State.
Discussions also highlighted the urgent environmental challenges affecting vulnerable communities, including flooding, environmental degradation, poor waste management practices, and limited climate awareness at the grassroots level.
The Ministry acknowledged ECF’s grassroots-driven approach and expressed willingness to support collaborative efforts around climate advocacy, environmental sensitization, technical guidance, and community engagement initiatives.

As part of the RWVL-N Project, the Euphrates Climate Foundation Team visited Ancha Community in Makurdi LGA, Benue State to engage the Zaaki (Moses Gudugudu Ishoobo) and Youth Leader (Samson Terfa Nyigwa) on climate justice, gender equality, and inclusive community development. During the visit, the @EuphratesCF Team engaged with the Zaaki of the community (Moses Gudugudu Ishoobo) and the Youth Leader (Samson Terfa Nyigwa) in recognition of their critical roles in community leadership and mobilization.
The importance of traditional and youth leaders in driving sustainable development initiatives in communities cannot be overemphasized. Discussions centred on the need to build stronger local support systems that encourage women’s active participation in climate action, environmental sustainability, and community decision-making processes.
The discussions focused on the impact of climate and environmental challenges on women and vulnerable groups, and the importance of building stronger community structures that support women’s participation in climate action.
The community leadership also agreed to begin consultations toward establishing a 10-member steering committee made up of 7 women and 3 men, including a female leader, while ensuring that at least one Person With Disability (PWD) is represented in the committee structure to promote social inclusion and equitable participation.

The Euphrates Climate Foundation Team held a strategic engagement with the Community Head (Zaaki) and community representatives through the Renewed Women’s Voice & Leadership Nigeria (RWVL-N) Project to discuss gender equality, climate justice, and sustainable community development.
The community leadership welcomed the initiative and agreed to establish a steering committee that will support climate education, environmental awareness, and grassroots engagement efforts within the community.
This is another important step toward building women community-led climate resilience and inclusive participation in climate action.
Follow-up engagements and community activities will continue as soon as possible.
