To everyone clutching their pearls over this: the Bible is a foundational book for all of Western literature. It’s also a history book. It can and should be taught in schools because if you start looking for it, Bible themes and stories are referenced in EVERYTHING and if you don’t know the gist of it you will be lost. Bible stories/jokes are common references in stinking kids movies for crying out loud.
@aggie4life02@UnimpressedTX This is a fact. Now, the Old Testament does have some documentation. Even Iraq and Jordan scholars know it better than some Christians.
Please tell me the part of the curriculum where they will be teaching Christianity specifically from the Bible.
There are other important historical aspects about the development of civilization in the Old Testament. Many Iraqi and Jordanian scholars and archaeologists know it better than most Christians or Jews.
You do know where Mesopotamia is, AT LEAST, right?
You understand what most western socital societies base their norms and laws off of, correct?
Since you have reviewed the curriculum, let’s hear it.
Let’s discuss your issues with the curriculum. I haven’t seen it. I’d like to.
Honestly, if the curriculum is only about the development of civilization and societal norms from the Old Testament, that is quite fascinating. I knew several Iraqis and Jordanians that treated it as historical accounts.
I can see potential for abuse and the zealots are running with it…but nobody knows the intended curriculum.
You should not approve your district rep trying to cancel any constituents from her official account. Let the market sort him out. This is 100% unconstitutional and she has a personal account. This is not how conservatives behave. The cake baker was given the same rights. The guy is a POS. Our elected representatives CANNOT get involved officially.
You do realize there is an ENTIRE half of the book that doesn’t enter into Christianity.
You are ok with talking about mythology and Shakespeare though, right?
Can you debate the curriculum?
Oh, tell me about what you know about Sharia law, while you are at it. Have you lived in an Islamic theocracy?
You are about as hypocritical as they are.
I’ve spent time with Iraqi archaeologists that can tell you more about the Bible than most “Christians” can.
@PearlThunderr Have you read the curriculum Texas has planned?
I can see historical value in development of civilization without the Christian faith even being a factor.
Maybe you haven’t read it enough. 🤷♀️
@BenPres72778066@DerekOsheaShow@ZachWLambert Perhaps if you look at the parts of the Bible that other countries do hold as historical accounts. 🤷♀️
I’d be interested in seeing the curriculum
@rcounts47@ZachWLambert Many Iraqis and Jordanians know the Old Testament quite well. I found many to know certain portions better than most Christians I know. It is, as you may know, one of many historical accounts, for the region.
What in the curriculum bothers you? Is it focused on Judeo Christian values and the formation of modern societal norms? Mesopotamia and modern civilization? Or the New Testament? Since you have reviewed it enough to determine it will not be in support anything of historical importance perhaps you can tell us.
