URGENT: If you receive a text saying you have a traffic violation, STOP. It could be a scam.
FRSC has issued a warning about a new wave of fake traffic-offence SMS messages being sent to motorists.
The messages claim that a traffic offence has been recorded against your vehicle and then direct you to a website to pay a fine or provide your details.
FRSC has specifically warned that https://t.co/4mIH41cC1f is NOT an official FRSC website.
Do not click the link.
Do not enter your ATM card details, BVN, NIN, password, driver’s licence information or vehicle details.
Do not make any payment through the link in the SMS.
If you receive a message like this, verify the alleged offence directly through the relevant government agency’s official channels rather than using the link provided in the text.
And here’s the worrying part: if a scammer knows your name, phone number, vehicle registration or other details, the message can look incredibly convincing.
Don’t let a personalised message trick you into believing it is legitimate.
Share this with every driver, vehicle owner and family member you know.
Is this a data breach? I got an OTP from a bank I do not even have an account with.
@ndpcnigeria how are they getting access to these information? @ngcomcommission @volatunji @bosuntijani@nitdanigeria@nimc_ng
@ProvidusBank Good afternoon. I’ve been trying to reach your customer care team but no one seems to be responding. Can you please get your team together to respond to clients on different channels you’ve made available. It’s rather frustrating.
