What I thought would be more controversial is paying for companionship. Exchanging money for a friend seems like a way more modern taboo to me.
If your time is valuable, genuine emotional connection is extremely expensive. Most relationships demand far more of it, and the higher-quality connections are exactly the ones most hesitant to give their time away. $6k/hr is a bargain. For people creating value with their time, that price is worth it if you have any reason to suspect the product is, in fact, genuine. Genuineness is rare, true. But i don’t think it’s unreasonable to think you may be able to find it from someone offering it at an explicitly stated price.
