As we approach the start of the Championship games, I simply wonder if the NFL will do the same, or turn a blind eye because it was our government orchestrating the murders.

Lemme confess something: After a lifetime doing underdog political & media stuff, I became deeply depressed in the last 2-3 years. Like, really deeply demoralized.

I began assuming positive change is impossible — that we’re all gonna live our whole lives and have zero agency to change anything. And I probably sometimes came off as overly prickly or angry because of those feelings, which at root are powerful feelings of sadness for what our world is becoming.

That gets to last night’s earthquake in NY: I dunno what will come of last night’s election — but it’s the first time in forever that it feels like positive, not-oligarch-approved change on the center-left is actually possible.

It will take a ton more work to make that positive change a reality — but for the first time in such a long time, it feels like all the work is still worth it. I’m gonna try to savor that feeling and remember it during future bumps in the road.

Last night’s results really make me grateful for all the work so many people are still doing to try to make things better.
