The School Committee recognized the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship recipients and Mrs. V for her 50+ years serving Westport students. Congratulations to the scholarship recipients on their accomplishment and Mrs. V on her well-deserved retirement!
The School Committee had its first in-person meeting with our new Superintendent Fran Roy yesterday, who has been working hard all summer meeting with staff & preparing our schools to welcome back students. Looking forward to our continued collaboration throughout the coming year

The Long Term Building Committee met yesterday to get an update from RGB Architects on the progress of the Municipal Buildings Study. We will have another public forum scheduled in the coming weeks & I encourage residents to watch the recent meetings on the Westport Govt TV page.
In addition to avoiding cuts while significantly reducing the use of free cash, we made important investments to upgrade safety and security with capital improvement dollars and added $175,000 to the special education stabilization fund.
Thank you to the voters at Town Meeting for their support of the FY26 school budget and the amendment. I'm proud of the process we implemented, which resulted in a budget that is fiscally responsible and serves the needs of our district.
I'm grateful to our business office, Superintendent, the Committee, & leadership team for helping to inform our funding priorities. I would also like to thank the Town Administrator, Select Board, & FinCom for their support & willingness to collaborate with me on this budget.

Joined NBC10 yesterday to discuss the district's superintendent search. The School Committee met last week to approve the job posting and establish a search committee to begin the process.
The Long Term Building Committee met to discuss the facilities study being conducted by RGB Architects. The firm gave an initial overview of their walkthroughs of the Town Hall, Annex, Council on Aging, and the former high school, as well as the next steps in the process.
