He’s not unwelcome in Cannes. Don’t believe the unethical “journalist”

In 2016, @KevinSpacey hosted the Amfar gala during Cannes Film Festival. It was also NOT a part of the festival. I don’t recall a single article clarifying that his appearance then was not a part of the film festival.

@Craig_Simpson_ wrote me this morning asking me if it wasn’t possible for Kevin to attend this year. As if there was some sort of problem. There wasn’t. We never intended to attend the festival—this year or in 2016.

This junior reporter is trying to carve a niche for himself. It’s not his fault. He’s been trained to do whatever it takes to get clicks.

The video is 1:42. Take another look. He doesn't deny that he may have given Guy attention (which 28 years later we now call "targeting"?)

The reality is that the GORE film represents a witness that the public has never heard from.

@netflix doesn't want you to know that Ted was complicit in a film about a homosexual man that used his power to lure a young straight man.

They also refuse to even sell it back to the producer.

Canceling someone will soon be seen as embarrassing as blackface.

We will ask our institutions why they canceled people without due process.

They will say they listened to us.

(which will sound as foolish as a teacher saying he stopped teaching class because his students said they didn't want to learn.)

You listened to us?!
We're now more ignorant for not having had strong leadership to guide us. You allowed us to breakthrough the very walls we needed you to secure. Yes, we were testing boundaries, but you failed us by removing them.

We've seen this movie before. It's just remarkable how many forget the ending.

Spoiler Alert: the gatekeepers that listened to the crowds will be defenestrated by the very same crowds.

People ask me why I stand by so many canceled people. The question itself will soon be seen as ridiculous.

I'm not the one lacking common sense. You are.

People are not perfect. And neither are our laws. But if you think listening to a mob is a better route than having structure and order then you're ignorant. Or a bot.

In either case, we should not be listening to you.
