I was deeply honored by the opportunity to testify before Congress. After AOC said all of this, I felt like asking the world to just stop for a minute.
I'm changing my desktop pic from her defending me & us to something more calming, but pinning this on twitter to keep it close
'The only time religious freedom is invoked is in the name of bigotry and discrimination. I'm tired of it' — @AOC just flipped the entire ‘religious freedom’ argument on its head
I just donated five bucks to this candidate I’d never heard of.
I looked him up, he’s MediCare for All and for taxing the wealthy.
In honor of Pride Month, please join me.
Maine congressional candidate Jordan Wood marked the start of Pride Month (1 June) by sharing footage of a tense town hall exchange in which an attendee called him a “f*ggocrat” while arguing about election fraud claims.
The out gay Democrat said the incident reinforced his belief that “democracy demands” showing up, engaging with difficult conversations, and refusing to back down in the face of hostility.
The confrontation took place at a March town hall meeting when a voter challenged Wood over unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud. After Wood pushed back on the allegations, the man became increasingly agitated and launched into a personal attack before storming out of the event. As attendees voiced support for Wood, he apologised for the disruption and reminded the audience that the town hall was open to everyone and that questions were not screened in advance.
Rather than ending the interaction there, members of Wood’s campaign team followed the man outside and continued speaking with him in the parking lot.
“They de-escalated the situation. They stood in the parking lot for 15 minutes and talked to this man about Social Security, his dogs, and listened as he brought up his family’s ties to the KKK,” Wood wrote in a Facebook post regarding the incident.
“After a while, he apologised to them, and somewhat to me,” he continued.
Reflecting on the encounter, Wood said the same courage required to stand up to hatred and misinformation is the courage that has long defined LGBTQ+ movements. “I’ll keep showing up in every corner of Maine’s 2nd district,” he wrote. “I’ll keep taking every question from every person who walks through the door. I’m not intimidated and I’ll never back down from a fight.”
I just gave $5 to this candidate I’ve never heard of.
Apparently he‘s a Medi-Care for All advocate and the former Chief of Staff to Katie Porter.

Sen. Sanders: What the medical and scientific community tells us is that gender affirming care is associated with a lower risk of depression, severe anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. ... Not only would banning gender affirming care do nothing to protect kids, it would make it harder for them to get the health care they need, and that would be a tragedy.
We only avoided this because of the courageous women who came forward, and @CheyenneHuntCA & @ms_frazzled who amplified their stories. And yet so many people doubted them before the news broke.
It would take far more than a month to honor the contributions of queer and transgender New Yorkers.
From the Cercle Hermaphroditos in 1895, the first trans advocacy group in the United States, to the drag balls of the Harlem Renaissance, to the Stonewall uprising, to the Lesbian Herstory Archives, to ACT UP!, founded in 1987 as queer people fought for their lives while the Reagan administration looked away, New York City's history has long been shaped by queer and trans New Yorkers.
To all our queer and trans neighbors: you deserve a City where you can afford to live safely, openly, and joyfully.
Happy Pride, New York City.
The role of the Governor is to protect Californians, and to stand between them and danger.
That's a role I take very, very seriously, particularly when it comes to trans youth.
Something very funny about putting 'California is not for sale' next to the disclosure that your ad is funded by PG&E and the California chamber and Realtors lol.
10/10 law
Tom Steyer: “I’m totally in favor of trans athletes in high school. When you understand the vulnerability, the stress, the danger of being a trans kid and you understand almost half of them try to commit suicide. Then you think we’re gonna punish those kids, we’re gonna cut them off from team sport. It’s like, no we’re not”
Once again, the Trump Administration is viciously targeting trans people. As governor, I will always stand with the trans community.
Scapegoating trans people echoes fascist regimes throughout history. It must not be allowed to stand. https://t.co/CbVJ6d6olE
@nypost He is a Democratic donor. That’s part of who he is and has been for years. Her PAC does great work. They know each other through that work. This is not sensational.
Becerra, a front-runner for California governor, has a history of blocking police accountability measures and seeking to uphold the death penalty. https://t.co/cc5Khc2JSo
