From Mrs. Ouellette: “One of our amazing assistant pastor’s at our church did this clip from Rene’s sermon last night. Thank you Abraham!!!

It’s been 72 days since he was in room 430 hooked up to multiple machines in the hospital bed. Last night for the first time since surgery he stood at the pulpit where he had stood for 44 years and preached the same message from the same book for all those years.

Psalm 9:1,2 says I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart;
I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. I will be glad and rejoice in thee. I read these verses today.

It was interesting that it says I will be glad and rejoice in thee...there have numerous times in my life lately when I haven’t felt like rejoicing in the situation I am facing...But I can rejoice in the One who holds that situation in His hands..knowing that He has it all under control...even when It feels like the fabric of my life is ripping apart at the seams. And that's because I'm living by my feelings...and once again and sometimes many times a day I have to yield my feelings back to the truth...and the truth is God is my helper, my healer, my hope. I will trust in Him for every moment of the day.

And ohhhhh how my heart rejoiced last night as I listened to the new voice God has given Rene. For that sweet moment in time I heard from Rene’s lips God’s truth that He is in control and He will be glorified as His strength is given in our weakness.

A sweet friend texted me this morning to say, “Yes-our heavenly father has given THAT voice for THIS time to deliver THAT message!”

When he came back and sat with me at the end of the service he placed his hand on my knee and I felt it trembling from the exertion of what he had just done…but I also saw the glow of accomplishment on his face as we both knew the miracle God had just done in allowing him to preach after an afternoon filled with coughing and hiccups…To God be the glory!!!

Proverbs 20:1 “Wine 🍷is a mocker, strong drink 🥃 is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.”

God says social use is misuse. A mark of wisdom is what someone does with alcohol. At best, it’s warned against and not wise. At worst, it’s what will make a fool out of you and destroy your life.

It’s not just the abundance but the actual substance warned about. Wine itself is a mocker. Strong drink in itself is raging! The wine of today didn’t exist in Bible times. Wine was always served mingled and would affect the bladder before the brain. That’s why people were warned not to look upon it when it was red (strength of mingling.) What’s available today and consumed recreationally is a dangerous drug that should be avoided even more than what is warned about here. You may take a drink but be aware that a drink may take you.

Adrian Rogers wisely stated that, “Moderation is not the cure for the liquor problem. Moderation is the cause of the liquor problem. Becoming an alcoholic does not begin with the last drink, it always begins with the first. Just leave it alone.”

The answer is to be filled with the Spirit! Billy Kelly would say that his former alcoholic father didn’t stop drinking—he just changed fountains! 🙌🏼

Tomorrow is Sign Up Day for the 2024 Season of The King’s Court Youth Basketball and Cheer Program! Sign Ups begin at 11am. Uniform samples are available to get the right fit. All girls and boys 4 years old thru 6th grade.

What a great day! I was privileged to preach at our Pre-School Chapel, then a local Middle School Bible Club, and finally to our teenagers in youth group! I don't know why the Lord let's me do this but so thankful He does!
