The Church wants to help. However, generosity without a clear understanding of the issue can inadvertently sustain systems that do not serve children as well as we hope. And the evidence on this is no longer ambiguous. By Rebecca Goropevsky: https://t.co/SueDG8c70A
🇺🇦🚒⛪ Question. When did the attack happen and what was the target?
Answer. The attack took place on June 2 at 3:50 a.m. One of our security guards was on the church property and witnessed everything with his own eyes.
A missile struck a neighbouring building — an office centre located only about 20 meters from our church. Everything within a radius of approximately 150–200 meters was devastated and heavily damaged.
It is difficult for me to say with certainty what the intended target was. Perhaps it was because our church has been very active in supporting chaplains and serving members of the military. Perhaps because we have stood firmly with Ukraine, praying faithfully for our nation. God alone knows. In this painful moment, it is hard for me to give a definitive answer.

🇺🇦🧯⛪ A missile struck at 3.50 am on 2 June 2026, severely damaging New Life Church, a well-known evangelical church in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
It happened before dawn, so there were no people in the place of worship.
“Our neighbors took the brunt of the strike", Anna Kalyuzhna wrote in an email to Evangelical Focus on the midday of 2 June, Ukrainian time.
“Our facility took heavy damage: all the windows and doors are blown out, the restrooms are wrecked, and the suspended ceilings have collapsed. The entire space is covered in shattered glass and furniture debris. We are even finding pieces of the missile scattered across the property. In the church hall, the exterior cladding, screen, all communication systems, and fire exits were damaged”.
Kalyuzhna, who is part of the leadership team at New Life Church, goes on to explain: “Tragically, our mobile dental clinic was also hit—the very clinic we used to travel and provide free care to those affected by Russian aggression”.
“We are incredibly grateful to our church members who dropped everything, changed their plans, and came out to help us clear the rubble and clean up the debris”, explains Anna.
She also sends a message to the international community. “Thank you for remembering us at a time like this,” she says.
"Let us pray, stick together and believe that the Lord is with us, will give us the strength to get through this trial and restore everything with His help", pastor Anatoly added.

👨🏻🦰📖📈 In Denmark, half of young adults under the age of thirty believe there is probably or definitely a God or higher power.
This new data comes from the God and the Danes: The 2026 Faith Analysis report published by the Danish Bible Society in spring 2026. The findings show a rare picture of this highly securalised northern European country.
“Almost two out of three young people aged between 16 and 30 say they are searching for a sense of meaning in life”, says the organisation after collecting the responses of 3,000 respondents in Denmark.
While almost 25% of 16–30-year-olds say that religion is important in their daily lives, the percentage drops to 13% and 11% among those over 61 and 45–60-year-olds respectively.
Young people are also more open to faith than the population as a whole. Nearly 49% of those aged 16–30 say that there is definitely or probably a God or higher power, compared to 39% of the rest of the population.

🌍👥📖 Nearly 900 participants from 45 countries gathered for the European Leadership Forum conference 2026, a conference now approaching its 25th anniversary and one of the key reference points for evangelical leadership in Europe.
The week combined morning Bible expositions led by pastor Colin Smith — president of Open The Bible, who has ministered in London and Chicago — with afternoon and evening plenary sessions featuring voices as varied as Spanish psychiatrist Pablo Martínez Vila, biblical counsellor Helen Thorne-Allenson, British lawyer Dave McIlroy, and Australian communicator John Dickson.
European Leadership Forum 2026 closed in the same spirit of worship that had accompanied every session from the first day. In each plenary, times of teaching alternated with moments of prayer in small groups of two to four people, where participants interceded for the topics presented and for one another's personal needs.
Throughout the week, hundreds of one-to-one mentoring conversations also took place — one of ELF's defining features: a space where evangelical leaders from across Europe can connect, encourage and care for each other.
