$20.5M SilverLining, Update #3 ✈️ From 2018 - 2026 they have moved from climate intervention R&D, to SAI governance work, to filing an international patent (PCT, Patent Cooperation Treaty) to deploy SAI aerosols using turbine engines/exhaust.

January 2026: WO2026010683A2 (“Aerosol technology”) covers systems that inject liquid aerosol materials or precursors, primarily SULFURIC ACID (H2SO4) or sulfate into the combustor or exhaust duct of turbine engines on aircraft.

This is extremely similar in purpose to Stardust Solutions’ July 2026, recent PCT patent for airborne dispersal of reflective particles from aircraft. WO2026139957A2.

The hot engine gases mix with and evaporate the material to form controlled sulfate aerosols that can reflect sunlight.

It also allows other materials such as nitric acid and ammonia, or solid aerosols.

Systems include spray bars, splash plates, superheated flash-atomization nozzles, transverse jets, V-gutters, and exhaust plume manipulators so the material mixes and evaporates properly with the hot engine gases/exhaust. Controllable injectors plus real-time sensors and feedback adjust particle size and output.

The patent focuses on the aircraft engine technology and control systems and also notes the technology could apply to ships, ground plants, or balloons.

SilverLining founded in 2018 by Kelly Wanser. In May 2024 they announced $20.5 million in funding from foundations including the Quadrature Climate Foundation and Pritzker Innovation Fund.
