On April 15, 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo unleashed a 40-yard 'thunderbolt' against FC Porto to silence the Estádio do Dragão. Scoring just six minutes into the UEFA Champions League Quarter-final second leg, his lone strike secured a 1–0 victory (3–2 on aggregate). With United facing elimination after a 2–2 home draw, the stakes couldn't have been higher; this goal single-handedly propelled the Red Devils into the semi-finals and later became the first-ever winner of the FIFA Puskás Award.
📅 Daily Puskás Award Throwback
From 2009 to 2025, the FIFA Puskás Award has celebrated football’s most spectacular goals — the ones that stop the world, spark debates, and live forever in highlight reels. The award is presented annually by FIFA to the player deemed to have scored the "most beautiful" goal of the calendar year.
Here’s every winner so far:
I promise you if there’s anyone that would gain from this it’ll be Alonso who will be having the most impact, not to take anything away from Enzo though he’s class too but there are levels to this.
What’s this bro?😭😅Xabi Alonso played alongside some of the greatest midfielders in football history. Iniesta, Xavi, Busquets, Gerrard and also coached at the highest level with Madrid, he’s a World Cup winner and also a UCL winner. Respect man, Respect!
The Ecuador manager can switch things up a bit and move Moi Caicedo further up the pitch, he’s sitting too deep, on a good day he can hit those long range shots and this is a game that’s just there for the taking.

@jeayse_jay We’re not a stepping stone, I blame BlueCo for not identifying this on time and making them leaders in this team. The fact that they’re leaders is what pisses me off the most.
We’ve had elite midfielders running out their contracts at this club and begging for a renewal but it’s always the same answer from Roman and Marina Granovskaia “NO”. It happened with Lampard, Kante, Michael Ballack, John Obi Mikel.
I don't care who disagrees with me.
If Cucurella genuinely meant what he said about Enzo Fernández joining Real Madrid, then as a Chelsea fan I find it hugely disappointing and disrespectful.
Chelsea supporters have stood by these players through some difficult years. We've backed them when results were poor, defended them against criticism, spent our hard-earned money following the club, and continued to believe in the project. The least we should expect in return is respect for the badge and the fans.
What frustrates me most is the message it sends. Why should Chelsea fans invest their hearts in players when we're constantly being told that the dream is somewhere else? Why should we get attached when every transfer window seems to bring another story about Madrid?
Chelsea Football Club should never be treated as a waiting room for another club.
If Enzo wants to be here, then commit to Chelsea and embrace what this club is building. If he doesn't, then let's stop dragging it out and move on. No player is bigger than Chelsea Football Club, and no amount of talent changes that.
The badge comes first. It always has and it always will.
Today we have Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella with their abilities not anywhere near the players i just mentioned, inflated egos, pushing to leave the club. Get them out of the team!
Two things are correct here.
Bun BlueCo for their ineptitude of the team since taking over Chelsea.
But if 2 of our leaders have had long term dreams of playing in Spain they clearly shouldn’t be leading.
A bit of a reset is needed. If you don’t want to be here. Be gone.
🚨🤍 Marc Cucurella: “I hope Enzo Fernández joins Real Madrid too. I’d be so happy”.
“The opportunity for us to both join Real Madrid in the SAME summer would be amazing”, told Radio Marca.
@EdenDassidy Would have probably had a great reception at Inter all things considered but the Italian league needs to do more, it needs to go back to what it used to be, top players seems to want out most of the time now.
I think there was a time Inter used to do this, they had all the stars and some of the best players in the world playing in their team, no one complained then,at a certain point in time Clubs seem to lose their special abilities to pull players easily and that’s what’s happening.
Let it be known that a team with no European football. No champions league football. Bullied an Italian champions to a sign a player within the space of 12 hours. Football is dead
This Ghanaian right back putting in a very strong performance, it’ll be even more special if they get a win or a draw from this game.
