At 10:10 am, a work crew struck a gas line on the 2600 block of Lawndale Ave., causing a leak and an odor. There is no danger to the public. Nicor and the Fire Department are on the scene. Repairs may take a few hours. Lawndale is closed between Hartzell and Park. Avoid the area.

The operation to locate the missing swimmer has concluded for the night.
The swimmer has not been located. @EvanstonFD will resume their efforts tomorrow.
Evanston Police and Evanston Fire Department Personnel are at Lighthouse Beach. 2 swimmers were rescued but one swimmer is unaccounted for. There is a heavy police and fire presence in the area lighthouse Beach is now closed. Please avoid the area.
Comed is experiencing outage issues in a few areas throughout Evanston. Some traffic lights have been affected. Comed is aware of the issues and Evanston staff have placed stop signs in the affected areas. Please exercise caution.
A thorough search has been completed.
At the present time the investigation and search indicates it is unlikely there is a missing swimmer.
Fire and police units are in the process of clearing from the lakefront.

On 6/03 at approximately 3:15 pm Evanston Fire and Police responded to a call of a swimmer lost in the water at Greenwood beach in the 1100 block of Lake Shore Blvd.
At the present time there are several Marine Units, rescue divers, and a CPD helicopter searching the waters.
Please avoid the area of the Church Street boat ramp. It is being utilized as a staging area for fire and rescue equipment.
