Newly Qualified Learning Disability Nurses who believe that everyone deserves to have a voice! #LDSNN Ambassadors. #SNTA19 Winners. #RCNiAwards Finalists ✌🏽💖
Hi chums. Help me please!
I am starting my new role looking at patients with 'behaviours of concern' in the hospital setting in 2 weeks.
What term do you use where you work? Is it challenging behaviour? Behaviour that challenges? Something else.
All help will be appreciated.
Neurodiverse people are failed every single day in the NHS! We are likely to die 26 years younger than our neurotypical peers as a direct result! I need senior managers to listen, hear and invest because #WhoIAmMatters!

Considering the prevalence of mental health difficulties in the autistic population, the understanding of autism in the mental health field is barely none! Why? Why can we not have specialised services run by people who understand autism and how it presents?!
Some autistic people may feel particularly unsettled over the next few days and weeks! Lots of change is incoming.. from change of monarch, prime minister, favourite tv programme, to money, to the national anthem, other peoples emotions etc. Please be kind 🫶🏼
Happy #LDWeek22 everyone! I’m so very proud to be a learning disability nurse advocating for equality in healthcare for people with learning disabilities, autism or both! Please check out our postcards on a song created by the talented @DavidHarling1 🌟 https://t.co/JKdIWLEnxv
Lived experience is key.. the training will not be as effective without it! People make things real! Although parent and family input is also key and has its place it’s the persons perspective that is most important! People need their voices to be heard #OliversCampaign
Suicide is an autistic crisis - particularly in autistic women. 2/3’s have experienced suicidal ideation and 1/3 have attempted to take their life - why are we so misunderstood?! #AGNhealthdata
78% of autistic people report anxiety of speaking on the phone as the biggest barrier to accessing primary care - if this is the only way to access this service, it becomes inaccessible to the autistic population #agnhealthdata
The more autistic professionals that disclose their diagnosis and casually talk to colleagues about autism, the easier it will become to overcome some challenges autistic people face in accessing healthcare #AGNhealthdata
Autism Acceptance Week begins today! The theme is ‘inclusion in the workplace.’ I’m proud to be autistic and work in an organisation that strives for inclusion for patients, family and staff! You can help to make a society that works for EVERYONE @AlderHey#AutismAcceptanceWeek
