FORMER Vice-President Enoch Kavindele has called for respect of the Office of the President, saying the violence that happened in Chingola over the weekend is regrettable.

Mr Kavindele says going anywhere near the President and threatening his security is unlawful.

He said Mr Hichilema has done a lot for the people on the Copperbelt, and Chingola in particular, ranging from road infrastructure to revitalisation of mines, hence what happened on Saturday was uncalled for.

Mr Kanvidele, who was Chingola Member of Parliament for 15 years, however, believes that the head of State has massive support in the area.

“Even if the mob was frustrated, there was no good reason to throw stones, attack the police and burn their vehicle,” he said.
