It’s been a week since the #SurplusSocial and a lot has happened 🌍 Most of us are #selfisolating at the moment and while boredom eating is real, it’s so important to remember to buy responsibly and in moderation so that everyone can access food staples
If you want to get serious about reducing food waste, it has to start at home. According to sustainability charity WRAP, household food waste makes up 70% of the UK's total loss, and most of that is fresh produce like fruit and vege https://t.co/iTYQdG7Oah
Wow! We are so excited to welcome you all to our event tomorrow... we can't believe we're nearly there. Here's the team putting the final touches together - you're in for a treat! As always, please do not hesitate to drop us a message or email us at [email protected] 😄
The team at @EventsChange are so excited for everyone to build their own vibrant Buddha bowls! These colourful bowls will be filled with delicious re-purposed veggies that otherwise would’ve gone to landfill. Get your tickets now at https://t.co/zv4NmnLhvM #SurplusSocial

Food may not be a limited resource but water is, did you know that a quarter of the worlds fresh water supply is wasted on growing food that never reaches our plate? 💧Always remember to #repurposeyoursurplus as food waste affects a huge number of other resources!
We are thrilled to say that over half of our tickets have now been sold! 😄 We are really looking forward to seeing you all in two weeks time and have some interesting discussions over delicious repurposed food, courtesy of @TheFoodWorksSHF ♻️ Eventbrite link is in our bio 💚
It’s no secret that people are eating more now than ever before, but did you know that the average dinner plate has grown by 36% 🥣 Over consumption is a leading cause for food waste, try serving up smaller portions and only taking more if you need it 😄 #surplussocial
It’s really that easy and is a delicious, healthy alternative for your sweet tooth cravings! If you like this recipe and give it a go, don’t forget to tag us to enter our competition and be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes!! #SurplusSocial
RECIPE THREAD: Now for the easiest banana ice-cream recipe ever. If you’ve noticed your bananas are getting too ripe (or if like us you realise you’re going away and won’t eat them up in time), here’s a quick fix to make sure you #repurposeyoursurplus
3. Leave in the freezer until each piece has frozen (2 hours or so) and then combine and store until you’re ready to use
4. Add to a blender and blend!
We agree with @EventsChange that freezing food is a great way to reduce the amount of food you throw out.
What's your best freezer tip for extending the life of foods at home?
Keep your eyes peeled on our socials! In a couple of hours we’ll be announcing our first competition prize and this evening we’ll be sharing a recipe to help kick-start your creativity and provide a little inspiration. So, get ready… go!
We’re so excited to be launching this #repurposeyoursurplus competition with our partners at Food Works! We want to see what wondrous creations you can cook up in the kitchen but don’t worry, you don’t have to be the next Gordon Ramsay as repurposing food surplus can be easy!

🥞 Here are some #Pancakeday
top tips to avoid #foodwaste :
🍋 Don’t buy loads of extra toppings that you may never use again, check what you already have!
🍠 Use vegetables and herbs to make up a batch of savoury pancakes
🥞 Measure ingredients to prevent excess batter!
It may not seem like it when you are on your fifth pancake- but shrove Tuesday is traditionally all about food waste prevention! Traditionally today was a way of using up ‘luxury’ foods like eggs, milk and sugar before Lent begins to stop them going to waste 🥞
