Recently retired teacher and teacher educator. Proud and privileged to have been so. Views my own. Don't assume RT implies support: possibly just interesting.
Going into my second year of teacher, I’m most looking forward to not being referred to as an NQT and just being known as a teacher. Sounds bizarre, but means so much. Finally got here 👍
My 11yo daughter is staying with a friend and her family in Northumbria. Need to teach her the art of more detailed text conversation.
What have you done today?
Been on a boat.
Where- round the harbour? To see seals?
To some islands.
OK. Seen anything exciting?
Puffins.

I've been proud to be in Pakistan sharing how Scotland takes a child-centred approach to education. I've used CfE, GIRFEC, The Nurture Room, and the Professional Values from @gtcs to show how we can do that.
We are in no way perfect but we have an education system to be proud of.
Why is it some feel the need to tell others how they must teach? In the 90s it was Learning Styles, then it was Assessment for Learning (with learning objectives for every lesson), now it is Direct Instruction. When will we learn teaching requires a range of methods, not a dogma?
Did you know we run a ‘Saltire Awards’ Programme which sees high school pupils work alongside us to build bridges between communities. Find out more at: https://t.co/8DN45QxUl7
Without 'strike action' the Scottish government won't get close to a figure that can be settled on, says @eisunion general secretary https://t.co/tTh10irnvW
Last year we worked with more than 7,000 pupils from over 70 schools across 21 local authority areas. ALL FREE! Teachers already booking sessions and programmes for next year - don’t miss out: email [email protected]
@Red2Medical @mrdissent If, like me, you suffer from cancer, and you live in the area served by that vehicle, I just hope that you have no need of it before the Croatia game. Perhaps, if there is time for the culprit to regain some sobriety, she may apologise publicly for appalling behaviour.
We've had feedback over the last week that some people are unhappy with our plan to offer up to 14 scholarships to refugees living in the local area. To these people, we would like to say: Tough. Jog on. https://t.co/ioDLPp5crw
Support from @ScotGovJustice is helping us bring our work further than ever before - across 14 local authorities in June alone. #KissBigotryGoodbye https://t.co/WFUB3VGdL0
