I will never stop professing my baptismal covenant. With G-d’s help, I will strive for justice and peace amongst all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.
The responses to Piper’s tweet are just proof that thousands of Americans aren’t actually informed about who all ICE is detaining. They are detaining legally present, highly vetted refugees (see Operation PARRIS), residents w/ green cards (like my friend’s brother).
caring for immigrants is one of the only things the bible is actually clear about so i never want to hear conservative christians claim their beliefs are biblical ever again
We’re all about to see folks who have no understanding of statistics claim an increase in crimes committed by immigrants. Critical thinking is expiring before our eyes.
Listening to the Senate proceedings and for being 40 days in no one who has spoken seems to be in touch in any remote sense with what this shutdown means for everyday people
Hey beloved.
Did you know in this precise moment.
You can pause.
And take a breath.
Two.
Three.
Four.
.
You. Yes, beloved, you.
You are okay.
Exactly how you are.
No matter how
many
pieces
you’re
in.
Hi. I see you.
Come, let’s build a fire.
.@GretaThunberg: “I’m not scared of Israel. I’m scared of a world that has seemingly lost all sense of humanity and what we are doing here is trying to show that there is still some humanity left…this mission should not have to exist”
A 22-year-old activist puts the world’s so-called leaders to shame.
May the 20th anniversary of #HurricaneKatrina remind us of the need to transform or discard inhumane systems and the need to transform inhumane hearts that disregard and discriminate against people. So many people should be alive. So many Black human beings were dehumanized. #NeverForget #RacismIsReal
When our Christianity makes the ultra wealthy and powerful feel safe and supported and the poor and powerless feel unsafe and unsupported, that is when we can be sure we are following someone other than Jesus.
You don’t have to call it a genocide. Just call it a war on children. That’s who the victims are.
I have always condemned the attack on October 7 by Hamas. 38 kids were killed and about 1200 people… each made in the image of God.
But since October 7, over 60,000 people have been killed. Over 17,000 of them are children…. Precious children made in the image of God.
Israel has been killing one child every hour on average.
Killing children is evil… whether it is done by Hamas or by Israel. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
As a Christian, there is no way to defend this violence. We must not repay evil with evil but overcome evil with good, as Scripture says.
When Jesus said love your enemies I’m pretty sure he meant that we shouldn’t kill them.
So yes, I have consistently condemned the violence of Hamas. I simple want to hear people like @MikeCosper condemn the killing of children in Gaza by Israel. There is no version of Christianity that can defend the atrocities of Israel. And the US is providing the funds and the bombs. The genocide could not happen without the support of the US.
The violence must stop.
We must stand together and say, “God loves Gaza.” Let Gaza live.
“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return … for [G-d] is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love…”
Joel 2:12-13
I’m about to sell a car I love that I’ve had for 17 years because I can’t afford to keep it where I live now but our POTUS can say he can’t remember the Tesla he bought recently, are you fucking joking?
Three things bringing me joy today:
- listening to a favorite podcast
- finally sewing again after a year of resettling
- lovely rainy train ride into Manhattan for an exhibit on Handmaid’s Tale
The Nottoway plantation burning reminds me of when the Waterford house burned down in Handmaid’s Tale:
Lord Jesus, be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels. In flaming fire thou shalt take vengeance. Burn, motherfucker, burn.
