We tested your knowledge about drink can recycling, and the responses are in!* Did you know that aluminium can be recycled forever? ♻️✨ Let us know if you have any questions about drink can recycling in the comments below.
Recycling aluminium uses 95% LESS energy than creating new aluminium from raw materials. So by taking one aluminium can back to a return point, you are doing something positive for the planet and helping us achieve our vision of a 100% recycling rate for drink cans in Ireland!♻️
Thank you to everyone who recycled their empty drink cans at @EPfestival this year! ♻️
We teamed up with @returnireland to raise money for their initiative #ReturnForChildren and we raised over €1200 from the donated deposits on the empty cans we collected at the festival. 💚
Cans crush it! 💪
All shapes, all colours, all easily recyclable and back on the shop shelf in as little as 60 days! 🥳
Help us to #KeepTheCycleGoing by ensuring that all your empty cans are taken to a return point for recycling. ♻
Ingot we trust! 🙌
Once your empty drink cans have been separated, baled and melted, they're then shaped into huge aluminium blocks called ingots. Each ingot contains over 1.5 million drink cans and will be sent off to be manufactured into brand new drink cans! 🔥♻️
✨This is where the magic happens! ✨
Once drink cans are separated and baled up, they're heated to remove any non-aluminium components before being transformed into molten aluminium at temperatures of around 750 degrees Celsius. 🔥
Don't break the cycle! ♻
Drink cans are easily separated from other recyclable materials using electrical currents known as eddy currents. From here they continue their recycling journey where they could be back on the shop shelf as a brand new can in as little as 60 days!

There’s no rocket science here – just re-melting! 🔥
Did you know that it takes just 60 days for an empty can to go through the recycling process and be back on sale as a brand new drink can? ♻️

Watch as the molten aluminium rushes through the can recycling plant to be cast into giant blocks, known as ingots. These ingots are then rolled into thin sheets and manufactured into brand new drink cans, ready to be filled and put back on a shop shelf. ♻️

You’ll be amazed by how simple the recycling process is for drink cans! ♻️

Take a trip down memory lane to see how #EveryCanCounts has evolved since we launched in Ireland in 2012! ⏳
We've definitely changed in appearance over the years, but one thing stays the same: our mission to inspire and encourage you to recycle your empty drink cans! ♻️💚
That's right; #EveryCanCounts was first launched back in 2009, meaning that this year we're celebrating 15 years of can recycling fun around the world! 🎉🎈
