Mummy was out of isolation on Wednesday.

A bit disoriented, but recovering.

My Mom has Covid.

She’s 96 & on oxygen.

My Dad did not do well after having it & died 4 months later.

I’m terrified.

She’s out and very happy to be back in her room.

She didn’t go over to Thanksgiving w/my brothers but they did see her that day.

I’ll see her in mid-December as overlapping with the boys would be too stressful for all.

One of my brothers arranged for her remaining sibling- my Aunt Elizabeth- to have a Zoom with her the day after she got sprung from isolation.

She’s holding her own, but stuck in a sparely furnished room-because it’s cleanable-is pretty miserable. Hopefully out this week.

Someone brilliantly gave her an amaryllis bulb that she can look forward to blooming around Christmas.

I have two sayings about aging:

After 50 it’s an endurance contest.

Aging is not for the faint of heart.

@chocoholicdiana My Dad was 94 when he died last year, 4 months after silent Covid & a series of illnesses including a TIA.

My Mom is now 96 - she’s a twice cancer survivor including a mastectomy, macular degeneration, mobility issues & requires oxygen.

He died just after their 69th.

My Mom is fully up to date thank goodness, as am I.

I’m speaking with her daily and I can hear the congestion & coughing. She’s still making sense which is a very good sign I think.

The stats of complications & death w/in 6 mo of infection are quite grim in the 65+ groups, let alone the super-aged.

A bright note - my daughter just got her transfer to Biochemistry at her 1st choice NE school accepted; going back in Jan & staying East.

@lizlovesmusic They have a mask mandate in assisted living and that section of the place for everyone walking around the halls.

But they all eat together as a floor, and I suspect that’s when it spread as she’s not the only one with Covid out of less than 30 there.

It’s a hard balance to get.
