I don't post here anymore, but just popping in to say that it is absolutely morally indefensible to spend money on any new Harry Potter stuff. The line could not be more clear. I do not care what it means to you, it is long past time to move on. It's not optional.
@KoroKogane @giedimine @finality_org @wiltedpages Nope they are a bunch of mean girl reviewers that have been targeting debut authors of colour. This is not the first book they have gone after
'Unwilling to allow' or 'not agreeing to permit'.
I am so sick of those words. Those are the wrong words.
Gazans have a right to the necessities of life, period.
Israel is 'manufacturing famine', 'ensuring death', 'violating law'. Donor states are 'acquiescing to starvation'.
Yall ask why marginalised authors don't get enough rep or dont feel safe publishing and then have the absolute gall to do this shit to marginalised authors who dare to put even the slightest amount of conflict and nuance in their stories.
Disabled people are trying to live on less than half of the $52k (per YEAR) Luxon stated he is “entitled” to over & above his eye-wateringly high taxpayer paid income & whatever other grifts he has going, so ashamed of the state of this country 💔
goodreads owes the community they built their company off of more transparency in reviews. without authors, this company doesn't exist. a small group of antis shouldn't be able to threaten an author's debut, career, and livelihood this easily simply bc they don't like the story.
God, how are poc ever supposed to create anything true or authentic or anything at all when people take more pleasure in being vitriolic and hateful than in actually reading
the misinformation around this book (disinformation, tbh in some cases) is horrific. you'd hope the ~book community~ learned from the hysteria around amelie wen zhao's book years ago but nope.
now watch those gr reviewers who ignited this sit back silently as this goes on 🙄
@byroncclark They definitely shouldn’t be doing this. For ableism reasons and also says a lot about their ego they need to have all audience members stand to attention.
twitter is like the worlds worst game of telephone. It is insane that this author has to explain the actual plot of her own book because someone decided it would be funny to spread harmful misinformation to hurt her
@Kyatic The mess continues to grow because toxic reviewers think that the idea of “authors shouldn’t be in review spaces” gives them a clear to mistreat real living ppl regardless of anything
I just feel like maybe there's a bit too much 'authors should stay out of reviewer spaces!' (very true, good point, I agree entirely) and not quite enough 'giving 1 star reviews to books you haven't actually read, based on Twitter misinformation, is shitty behaviour'
you know, i’ve been wondering where all those lovely tumblrina antis from 2016-2020 went after The Great Tumblr Exodus, and it makes 100% sense that they’re full-time negative goodreads reviewers now
I’ve just seen some of the prose from that goodreads reviewer’s sister’s book who rated it 5 stars (pretending not to know her) then went around rating THW, Jasad Heir, TGUWG 2 stars and it could not be more clear none of this is about the quality of the writing of those books 💀
