Everything is set up for Maneater’s publication on ~Saturday, getting ready to go fishing, and it looks like the TADC finale is airing at my local theater.
@DeepSpaceNSFW Man, I wish I had the cash to spare for comms right now. I really wanna get some art based on my new book… But I should probably wait for next time.
I see a lot of writers take the wrong lessons from works like Lord of the Rings. I’m a huge Tolkien fan as well, so it’s a trap I’ve fallen into in the past. But unless it’s a hobby project you’re working on purely for yourself, you need to be more economical with your time.
Worldbuilding should be understood as constructing a stage for your characters. Theaters don’t build entire castles and villages for their scenes to take place in. They build facades and trust the audience’s imagination to do the rest.
That doesn’t mean you should be lazy! If you make a sloppy, unrecognizable facade that looks nothing like what it’s supposed to represent, you’ll break the immersion. You still need to put in the basic work. But don’t waste your effort on details that will never come up.
Once in a blue moon, I try to install a new module for Foundry, only to find that it is not compatible with my current version of Foundry, because Foundry has gone up a whole ass version number since the LAST time I updated. Friggin software devs.
