@Bearydown You saw roaches fighting over a flavored protein chip and immediately thought about how to make it about black people, maybe it’s time to put the X app down
“Buddy you’re just making up a bunch of shit about an entire continent” You’re a massive hypocrite, I have no idea why I’m entertaining this conversation. It’s impossible to communicate with people who demand respect and view themselves as superior when they don’t even respect you.
Accusing me of things you’ve been doing the whole time? You’ve spent this entire thread (and other threads.. over 48 hours now) talking about how poor Americans deserve to be stiffed/lose money for their job of choice, and Europeans deserve to go to the US and stiff our servers, calling Americans pompous and entitled and stupid, but the second I speak up about yall coming over here and treating us badly, I’m making stereotypes up and “creating a screed” about Europeans lol. Why are you continuously dishing out disrespect and then demanding respect when you offer none? It’s because I spoke facts earlier: you view your country’s economy as superior, thus you think it’s fine to treat us like shit all while pretending you’re a moral person online. Thats why you’re pretending to care about “screed” after spending half a week talking about how we deserve to suffer because of things out of our control.
Because I work in the US under these conditions and consistently am dealing with this scenario. Nothing I said was a screed, rather citing personal experience. If it hits too personally, try self reflection. Why is it so normal for them to post about and purposefully come over here and screw us over? I don’t see you commenting on any of the Europeans saying they come over here and stiff us on purpose, but now I’m accused of “calling Europeans shit” because I spoke out about mistreatment towards people in another country lmao
It is messing with our money actually. You don’t have to agree with it but it is the truth. Thats why it’s called a “tipped position”. + how you say that bartending and serving is not middle class? Are you implying it’s lower or higher class? Do you work in the service industry in the US?
Because Europeans don’t actually care about the middle class. They’d rather force their country’s economy onto other people who don’t operate under that framework because we live in an entirely different country, and punish our middle class for their jobs because they personally disagree with it. They often come to America with the intention of stiffing waitresses instead of boycotting the businesses underpaying their workers, taking advantage of the fact that it’s nearly impossible to find a job in our economy. They genuinely do not care that they are messing with your money because in their heads, their culture is superior so it’s fine for them to come over here and screw over a waitress— but don’t dare offer them a single dollar in Europe as a tip or else we’re forcing our tipping culture down their throat. It’s a good way for them to keep that extra dollar in their pocket while pretending they care about your wellbeing as they directly funnel their money to the rich guy who makes you work for tips. This is why a lot of businesses have started letting their servers and bartenders apply a preemptive auto grat, especially during the World Cup.
@WhapXI@phototoxin And what are they making hourly? What is the price of living? Can they afford to live based on the hourly wage given to them by their employer alone?
European servers and bartenders are paid a wage and they act their wage. The reason tip culture exists in the US is because Americans demand above-and-beyond service. That type of service does not exist in Europe because nobody is working for tips. Bartenders are also very different there— you keep repeating about pouring and opening beers, but we also craft cocktails over here that can take up to 5 minutes per drink. That type of cocktail culture doesn’t really exist in Europe so I’d understand why you’d have the misconception that US bartenders “just open beers”. I don’t force bartenders and servers abroad to take my tips because I understand the culture is different and it can be offensive, so why is it fine to come over here and do the opposite?
@WhapXI@phototoxin You wouldn’t have to lol. You don’t live here. So why is the service in Europe so awful if it’s so much better over there and they’re receiving a wage? Why punish the worker and not the person they’re working for? “Just get a better job” instead of boycotting the company?
