If you like JLP and KMNO, here is a simple strategy. You can get up to 12x boost on your points by borrowing USDC against JLP and converting to JLP and depositing in Kamino JLP market. You can make up to 350% apy in pure JLP yield + 260% apr in KMNO points (based on whales market prices).
Be careful though, JLP comes with a market risk, don't get liquidated.
5 Things I Love About Kamino
(originally posted on my Medium page, linked in my Profile)
@KaminoFinance has rocketed up the Solana decentralized finance leaderboard over the last three months and current has the highest total value locked for a non-liquid staking platform at over $1.1 billion, per DefiLlama.
There are a lot of reasons that explain Kamino’s success, but I wanted to highlight the five reasons why I personally think Kamino is a cut above other decentralized finance products and why I will keep using it long after their first season of points concludes at the end of March 2024.
NOTE: Nothing in this post should be considered financial advice. I’m sharing this content for informational purposes only.
1. Lending + Pools
There are two primary strategies to earn yield on your crypto assets: lending and adding liquidity to liquidity pools. I like that Kamino offers exposure to both of these strategies under one roof, which greatly simplifies the DeFi journey, especially for new/inexperienced users or people who aren’t full-time in crypto.
2. Single-Sided Deposits/Withdrawals
Adding liquidity to a liquidity pool should be possible in a single click. Unfortunately, most liquidity pools require the user to add liquidity on both sides of the pool, which is a pain in the ass because a) pools aren’t always 50/50 split, b) users then need to figure out how much of one token to swap to another to get to the desired amount of each token, and c) users then have to actually conduct the swap on a separate site, like Jupiter.
Kamino turns this silly, time-intensive, user-hostile approach upside down by enabling users to add single-sided liquidity that is then swapped into the desired ratio of assets for the pool, making it simple to add liquidity even for new/inexperienced users. And, to make things better, it’s the default option when you are looking to add liquidity.
3. High Yields (Explained)
Yield is super important in a volatile asset class like crypto. Many people are drawn to crypto for opportunities to make money that they feel aren’t accessible via their job/career or via traditional finance. And Kamino has some of the best yields I’ve seen on Solana. There are three reasons why their yields are excellent:
They are an aggregator of liquidity options, so they offer a one stop shop to peruse liquidity pools across Raydium, Orca, and Meteora. Why use three sites when you can use one?
Kamino actively manages the funds you are providing to the liquidity pool, including ensuring funds remain within an advantageous price range and harvesting and compounding rewards. These are things that power users can do themselves, but Kamino brings this level of fund management to more average users who don’t have time to babysit their liquidity positions.
Kamino seems to do a great job forging partnerships with other teams to offer additional rewards for contributing to certain strategies/pools. Some of the most notable rewards they have offered in various pools include JTO and BONK (in addition to the more typical BLZE and MNDE rewards you can find elsewhere).
Kamino also does an awesome job of explaining yield and risks in two really important ways. First, users can intuitively hover over the APY amount to see a breakdown of where the yield comes from on each strategy. In the case of one of my favorite liquidity pools — JitoSOL-SOL — yield comes from two places: 1) Fees, calculated over the previous 7 days, annualized and compounded (in this case, 3.65%) and 2) Rewards, annualized (in this case, 6.84% in JTO). This really helps me make more informed choices on where to put my hard-earned capital.
Kamino also offers an Info & Risk tab on each of their strategies/pools, which is a great way to learn more about the product you are about to engage with. I love this level of transparency and think more products should put in the effort to increase transparency and knowledge on the part of users who are too often thinking about money/APY rather than risks.
4. Points Points Points
Yield is great, but everyone knows that an even bigger reason to be active in decentralized finance right now is to position your wallets for an allocation of future governance tokens from popular Solana applications. And Kamino has leaned into this meta in a big way, not only by offering their own points program (Season 1 of which concludes on March 31), but by offering unique strategies to maximize points across multiple ecosystems!
The signature strategy that they offer are their JUP vaults which enable liquidity providers to earn Kamino points, Meteora points (since the liquidity pools are on Meteora), and Blaze Stake points (via BLZE rewards).
5. Portfolio Tracking Tools
Another great example of Kamino’s commitment to offering a great user experience is their Portfolio section which makes it very easy for users to track their various positions, points accrued, understand their liquidation risk if they are borrowing, find and claim their accrued rewards, see transaction history, and see profit and loss on each position. The interface is intuitive and helps you better understand which strategies are actually netting the results you were hoping for.
In conclusion, Kamino has earned their place at the top of the Solana DeFi standings, in my opinion, not because they offer the best points program for opportunistic farmers, but because they have created a great user experience that makes it easy for people to:
explore a wide range of strategies like borrow/lend and liquidity pools deploy/withdraw funds to/from various strategies understand yield and risks of each strategy
accumulate points across the Solana DeFi ecosystem
monitor progress of your portfolio.
And I’ve only scratched the surface of interesting features/strategies on Kamino, like Muliply, Long/Short, and their wide range of dashboards and documentation on their various products. It’s a product worth exploring and using long after the points meta goes away.

We hear you. We’ll be doing this right.
Since Kamino went live, we’ve made a point of listening to our community and genuine users, with the aim of building a great product that people love.
We have always chosen to be as transparent as possible in our communications - and this held true for our points program, as well as the $KMNO airdrop announcement.
The feedback has shown that we need to maintain this transparency and be explicit on how we plan to reward early users who have taken longevity risk throughout the bear market.
To be clear: this was already part of the KMNO plan, as was alluded to in our announcement as well. However, the need for clarity is evident and absolutely understandable.
OGs, we have not forgotten you.
Over the next two weeks, we will reveal more about the KMNO drop, and we’ll be addressing 2 community concerns:
- OG Drop: Rewarding the users who have used Kamino the longest
- Points Adjustment: Limiting the “dilution-effect” from new inflows
OG Drop: An allocation of KMNO will be airdropped to OG users. This will be in addition to the 7% Community Allocation. More details to follow soon.
Points Adjustments: Starting tomorrow, the points system will be subject to some major adjustments. See the next tweet for the full breakdown.
Throughout the bear, we chose to stay and keep building - because we believed in what we as a Solana community were building. We have no interest in letting our community, nor the greater Solana community down.
We are here to grow the pie, raise the tide, and get Solana to where it belongs: #1
The vision is to build real and lasting DeFi infrastructure - and we wouldn’t want to be doing it anywhere else.
Thank you, Solana
Kamino
