@SeanFennessey Do research: the slippers are silver based off text/ the red glow was an homage. And you’re defending the OG film all pod but then saying “what about the wizard giving the scarecrow a brain”… they had brains, heart, and courage all along. do better if you’re going to be critical
@SeanFennessey I’ve listened to your pod for years, but this ep was infuriating. The film isn’t perfect at all but hearing you guys bash Wicked for 2 years because you were never part of its target audience is just tiring. And your “resident musicals guest” got a bunch wrong, why bother.
@WhiskeyRiff You can call them “woke trolls” all you want, but the decision and it’s outcome very clearly didn’t prove to be what Carrie and her team had hoped; the chart data is not good and she divided her fanbase during a year she was clearly hoping to grow her audience with NYE and Idol.
was hoping these stats were going to be looked at. Career-wise, doesn’t look like the move, hope you had fun though @carrieunderwood, at least you made Mike proud…
Carrie Underwood's catalog was up 12% in US units in the week following Trump Inauguration performance.
Her album sales doubled and her streams were up less than 1%.
@backslidingben She has all these new fans that haven’t followed her career but are riding hard now with bad takes, it’s depressing.. just the popularity of certain albums charting higher than others currently are telling.
@WhiskeyRiff Agreed but all the photos of Carrie at both the dinner and luncheon as well as photos only with Republican Party members does seem a bit one sided..
@backslidingben Not posting lets her keep the “for unity” narrative, even though all the photos from the dinner and luncheon speak for themselves. Everyone acting like she didn’t pick a political side are delusional and that’s not even bringing up where Mike very vocally stands…
However, I can no longer invest into her life and support her anymore than just another fair-weather fan because to me, she’s proven that she is just another fair-weather country artist.
The efforts I’ve made to prove that Carrie Underwood is more than just another country artist, one that is international, loves rock influence, can duet in Spanish has all been diminished.
Every country artist has a large Republican fanbase, that’s just part of the trade, but to ostracize everyone else who’s supported you for one event is heartbreaking.
Sure she is singing a song “for the country” at the inauguration and not performing at a Trump party/ rally, but artists on both sides of the aisle have distanced themselves from Trump for years because of just how divisive his actions are…
this was something I’ve always proudly defended and continued to prove time and time again because her actions spoke for themselves. There have been many times where Carrie would have used her high profile to make a stance like other artists but she never did.
The struggle I have with this is solely personal, I have spent 20 years rooting for and investing in @carrieunderwood’s career. I’ve always known we didn’t match politically but her continuous effort in remaining apolitical was something I’ve always respected.
Carrie’s always seemed like an artist that’s remained true to herself AND to her fans while also managing to cross genres. To not be like just every other country artist was something exciting and admirable…
