Work with @ChikinaLab, @NathanClark111, @sergeilkp

[EvolCompGen @EvolComp]

Convergent trait evolution can help associated us identify similar genotypes that lead to similar phenotypes.

In our final talk of #ISMB2022, @averyselberg presents BUSTED-PH: a likelihood method to distinguish adaptive innovation from convergence.

[EvolCompGen @EvolComp]

With Lloyd Allison and Arun Konagurthu

[EvolCompGen @EvolComp]

After-lunch talks start soon!

Current models of sequence evolution disconnect substitutions and indels. Dinithi Sumanaweera gives their Proceedings Presentation bridging this gap to develop a unified statistical model for protein alignment #ISMB2022

[EvolCompGen @EvolComp]

Next up: @JRaviLab discuss their work integrating databases in an evolutionary and ML framework to gain insight into the origin and continuous adaptation of antibiotic resistance
With @Vigs_24, @joe_burke11, @elliotmajlessi, @KJongnarangsin, and
@compbiologist

[EvolCompGen @EvolComp]

Now speaking: @ShadiShafighi on their probabilistic model CACTUS to integrate
information from genomic cell clustering with transcriptome data of single tumor cells to map single cells to given imperfect genotypes of tumor clones.

Thank you everyone for your patience regarding our technical difficulties. Stick around at the end of the session as our first speaker, Ana Isabel Castillo Orozco, presents "Comparative Genomic Analysis of Primary Medulloblastoma and Leptomeningeal Metastasis"

[EvolCompGen @EvolComp]

Lipoxygenases synthesize products for cell-cell signaling in multicellular eukaryotes. What are they doing in bacteria? @KurakinEgor presents work on the link btw lipoxygenases, pathogenicity & symbiosis. Could bacterial lipoxygenases facilitate cross-kingdom host jumps?#ISMB2022

[EvolCompGen @EvolComp]

Next up: Aijing Feng tells us about avian pathogenic E. coli (APEC) and their work characterizing the genomic diversity found sampling poultry in the southern US.
Room: G
With Spencer Leigh, Hui Wang, Todd Pharr, Jeff Evans, Martha Pulido Landinez, Lanny Pace, and Xiu-Feng Wan

[EvolCompGen @EvolComp]

Join us as Wend Yam Donald Davy Ouédraogo presents TranscriptDB and their new method that considers alternative splicing to compute clusters of conserved transcripts for the reconstruction of transcript and gene phylogenies. #ISMB2022

With Abigail Djossou & @AidaOuangraoua

[EvolCompGen @EvolComp]

Highly promiscuous domains are hypothesized to be the result of high mobility. In our next talk, Yuting Xiao presents work probing this hypothesis looking at the correlation between promiscuity and rates of domain gain and loss.

Simulation is an essential component of evolution research. We have a wealth of models for simulating species, genes, and sequences. But what about events affecting multidomain architectures? In her Proceedings talk, Xiaoyue Cui tells about their new simulation models. #ISMB2022
