An American Witness to History: The Untold Story of Darbar Sahib

Norman Kriesman is not your average spiritual seeker. A sharp-eyed American of Jewish faith with a methodical mind and an unusual ability to read political situations, his journey began in California, matured through the Sikh community of Southall, London, and took him deep into the heart of the faith — Shri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, in 1980.

What followed was something few outsiders — and perhaps very few Americans — have ever been positioned to observe. Kriesman secured a room inside Guru Nanak Niwas, directly next to Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. For the Indian government, the presence of an American embedded this deeply was an uncomfortable variable that did not go unnoticed. Who was this man, and what was he sending back home?

On the ground, Kriesman observed with clinical precision how Hindutva forces were permitted to march provocatively before Darbar Sahib while Indian police protected them, only to photograph Sikhs the moment they responded. He witnessed paramilitary gunfire as early as 1982. He documented the sniper fire over Guru Nanak Niwas in late 1983 with the composed recall of someone trained to retain detail under pressure.

His departure ahead of Operation Bluestar was arranged with a striking specificity — quietly, efficiently, leaving no loose ends. The Indian government, he was told, could not afford an American caught in the crossfire.

He identifies the entire operation as a classic false flag. His account is unflinching, precise, and carries the weight of someone who saw everything — and forgot nothing.

The younger generation, he believes, understands the Battle of Amritsar — who fought it, why it was fought, and why it is not over yet.
