In light of recent events that have sparked discussions throughout the community, including with several high-profile developers, and given that we are a community-oriented account, we wish to make clear:
If you are a minor, no matter if somebody is your favorite developer, youtuber or anything else, never let anybody, especially an adult, take advantage of you. You are never in the wrong for being a victim; they are.
If you're not sure what the signs are, keep an eye out for:
• Unnecessarily requesting that conversations are to be kept private.
• Attempts at sending sexually suggestive or suggestive messages.
• Attempts to obtain your personal information.
Under no circumstances should anyone ever encourage or ignore pedophilia, grooming, or abuse. Another problem that has arisen is doxxing. Although it seems to have been done individually rather than collectively, the practice still should be condemned. If you or someone you know is being doxxed, blackmailed, or groomed, inform your parents and contact the appropriate authorities.
Internet safety is critical; never share personal information carelessly, and never take anyone you meet online for granted, even if they are well-known. Someone who excels as a developer, YouTuber, or in any other capacity does not automatically deserve your respect or trust as a person. It is very easy for someone to be acting or claiming to be something they are not, be vigilant. We appreciate the community's continued concern over such a sensitive topic and urge the importance of educating yourself and others on how to remain safe on the internet.
