Ireland never has and never will recognise the term "British Isles" btw, as per the actual government.
It's literally strictly an English/ American term, so stop using it in relation to Ireland.
Just want to recommend a youtube channel that still makes Agents Of Shield (and other tv based) videos! Heโs been gone for a while but is back now and everyone should give him some support!

I don't like the writing of this season much at all but this is one of the things that was actually explained
They were bait for Butcher and Annie, when it was clear they weren't gonna show, Homelander changed to the "Execute them" plan to force them to show.
I was really under the impression that the reason they needed Cate to get Frenchie specifically was because they were going to force him to use his knowledge in chemistry for something
why even have the boys imprisoned together and not separately
Like we're spending the wrong amount of time on things, we shouldn't be at episode 6 by the time V1 was finally found, why did we just spend four episodes on the same back and forth quest hunting with all the characters.
Such a dismissive attitude about the genuine complaints people have about the season.
The Boys has never been about the fight scenes. Season 1 has like three proper fight scenes the entire season and everyone loved Season 1. No one is asking for this season to be action focused.
Showrunner Eric Kripke responds to โfiller episodeโ complaints in โTHE BOYSโ Season 5.
โNone of the things that happen in the last few episodes will matter if you donโt flesh out the characters. Iโm getting a lot of online dissatisfaction, to put it politely. And Iโm like, โWhat are you expecting? Are you expecting a huge battle scene every episode?โโ

But like, we're two episodes from the finale, these characters shouldn't need to still be fleshed out, Firecracker, Noir, should have had their backstories filled out last season.
People aren't criticising the season because "No action", it's because not a lot is happening.
Last season we could have had an episode following a random theatre actor for some of it, not knowing what it's leading to, and then revealing he's actually the new Black Noir. I would have loved that. Same with Firecracker but with her background instead.
I think my biggest gripe with this season is that with each episode, it becomes glaring just how mishandled season 4 of #theboys was. thereโs no reason why FireCrackerโs background couldnโt have been given to us last season, same with Noirโs
And even that aspect of the plot is something I'm not crazy about because the Bombsight name drops and lore are simply just to set up a spin-off. And yeah sure, Butcher now is okay with helping Starlight and Kimiko, but that itself feels like it's a character flipflop.
It's annoying because if this was an episode in Season 3 or Season 4 I'd have considered it one of the best episodes of either season, but the only thing about this episode that felt like it fit in a final season was the Firecracker stuff.
The Boys Season 5 bounces back in a big way with the character-driven and thoroughly entertaining new installment One-Shots.

Yeah sure, we finally got Sister Sage's Endgame plan, but we had basically known this was her goal since Season 4, the only movement for Homelander and Soldier Boy's plot was the same thing Butcher and The Boys found out last episode.
The amount of time we're spending on setting up spin-offs is insane.
But my biggest issue is that we're halfway through the final season and Homelander STILL hasn't snapped, this is the one thing they've been teasing and pushing since S1, the entire final season should be that.
This has always been my biggest complaint with The Boys, from S3 onwards the whole show lost its punch by wanting to be safe so people can still be around for spin-offs, I was really hoping S5 would be different, but the last two episodes have been "Vought Rising coming soon!"
the final season of the "making fun of superhero movie franchises" show is spending a pretty crazy amount of time setting up the next entry in their superhero franchise
The Boys Season 5 reaches its low point in Episode 4, a largely pointless detour for the series that relies too much on forced character drama.

I liked the new Born Again but the pacing around the Jessica Jones stuff was so weird, she just appears, drops a load of dialogue exposition, has a quick fight scene, and then disappears, it felt like the stuff with her was disconnected from the rest of the episode almost.
