It's insane to me how FF7 Revelation will be the first Final Fantasy since FFIX that will have a fully functional airship with a vast open world to explore. It's the franchise's first time doing so in HD. I had my doubts back in 2015, so seeing this now is truly something else.

Revelation meteor might first be revealed in this scene, where it obviously looks foreboding and intense enough to turn the sky above Midgar red.

Persona 4 Revival dungeons are designed like the original but with new visuals.

Combat advantage is now acquired by parrying the enemy shadow in the overworld.

There is a special shared meter next to the party panel, likely for the new Theurgy-like "Series Finale" mechanic.

The "too many cinematics" complaint is about throw and CH animations that have been in fighting games since 1994. VF is relentlessly intense, so that brief respite is part of the rhythm. It's nothing like a 20 second combo into Heat Burst into wall break into 15 second rage art.

Director Hamaguchi mentions in the FF7 Revelation Famitsu interview that the FIT Job system has a skill tree where you actually level up the FIT itself.

If you decide to have another character wear that FIT, the abilities carry over to them, so you don’t need to start from scratch. Battle Director Endo specifically wanted to design it this way.

Hamaguchi personally uses Tifa with the black mage FIT a lot as it brings a brand new experience for gameplay 😆

The FF7 remake project is the most ambitious remake I can think of. When Revelation finally releases it will be the conclusion to a seven year, multi-game immersion experience of the FF7 universe. The first two games are among my favorites of all time. I am unbelievably excited.

Old areas being explorable is confirmed but the terrain will be different from Rebirth due to natural disasters caused by Weapon. Thats pretty cool! World of Ruin vibes from FF6
