Mountain West pursing Grand Canyon as non-football member w/talks "heating up," sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. Grand Canyon, a member of WAC, has made 3 of last 4 NCAA men's basketball tourneys. MW also still in discussions w/NIU & Toledo as football-only members, sources said
Sam Houston AD Bobby Williams said Mountain West contacted school to see if Bearkats were interested in membership but βthatβs not what we want to do. (President Alisa White) & I are on the same page. We want to help build Conference USA because we really enjoy & are excited about whatβs going onβ
Hawaii will join Mountain West as full member in 2026, sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. With 8 full members required to be FBS league, MW now targets NIU & Toledo as football-only members, sources said. MW still wants to add at least 1 football member

Sauces have informed me that a πΊ deal likely wonβt be announced today. The PAC-12 TV deal & new team additions want to dominate sports news cycles. However,it would be popular today, but depending on the outcome of tomorrowβs big games, lose traction. P12 wants to dominate the π
@LuvBobby6956@LizardKing1893@OS_Beaver It would still work for those that just came in, because they'd be left with the brand and $. Also, there was a GoR already signed + Big 12 already passed on that option. Could it happen? Maybe. Likely? I think not.
Done deal? Pac 12 will be delivering on what it was proposing, media $ + coverage, to Memphis and Tulane. Now we wait. Not months or weeks, but days or hours?
PAC-12 Interest > BIG-12 Interest
Not only has the PAC-12 generated more interest than the MWC and AAC over the last 90 days, it has surpassed the BIG-12, despite the BIG-12 having significantly more schools, including 4 previous PAC-12 Universities.

Using Google Trends to measure interest over the last 90 days around the PAC-12, Mountain West, and AAC. The PAC-12, despite being mostly a two team league, has consistently drawn more interest, peaking with expansion news.

@Luke_Contreras5@OS_Beaver I'll say yes and put my career as a rumor mongering gossip troll on the line. I can always burn this account and become "Rumors of Expansion". π
Sorry, what I would say is that I only put out what I'm hearing, seeing, and feeling based on my research.
@LizardKing1893@OS_Beaver The fast play was to get the 4 AAC schools for cheap. Once that stalled, the next slower play was up: Gonzaga + the lone 1 AAC target, knowing that 2 would come. Utah State didn't hurt valuations and got them to magical number of 9 football members + 10 Olympics.
After Pac 12 is done, the MWC will then begin media courtship and presenting multiple expansion options for the best deal. I don't see any significant value differences in the available options and I can see them settling on NMSU. Just a feeling.
A group of investors & ex-Disney executives have met with ADs at 30 power schools with a pitch: a $9 billion infusion as part of a 70-school football league.
Looming over SEC & Big Ten meetings is "Project Rudy."
