This is absolutely mental. When will this madness end?

The censorious Green Party is back to policing what we can and cannot say.

This time, rather than turning its sights on the press, it has published an Orwellian language guide telling delegates which words and phrases are “unacceptable” at its conference in Brighton this weekend.

The new Inclusive Terminology Guide advises members against using terms including “elderly”, “female politician”, “mothers and fathers”, “able-bodied”, “sex change”, “homosexual”, “youngster” and “sexual preference”.

It also recommends replacing gendered job titles with gender-neutral alternatives: “chair”, not “chairman”; “police officer”, not “policeman”; and “parents and carers”, not “mothers and fathers”.

When discussing race, members are encouraged to use “global majority”, which the guide describes as an umbrella term for people of Black, Asian, Brown, Indigenous and Latin American heritage. It says the phrase reflects the fact that these groups make up most of the world’s population, while often being minoritised in countries such as the UK.

The guide says “Brown” should be “used with caution” and encourages the term “racially minoritised”, which it says emphasises that minority status is created by social and power structures rather than being inherent.

Responding to the guide, Conservative Party Chairman @kevinhollinrake said: “The Greens are obsessed with policing people’s language and thoughts in the name of their increasingly bizarre crusade against ordinary Brits. Last week they were dictating who people spend time with and what jokes they make. Now they’re attempting to prohibit perfectly normal words like ‘mother’ and ‘father’. This extraordinary obsession with censoring how people speak and behave in their everyday lives is made even more nonsensical by Polanski’s inability to get a grip of the vile antisemitism within his own party.”

This is completely bizarre and a blatant attack on free speech. The Greens are becoming increasingly censorious.
