Today, a mature patch of woodland in Gartmore, Scotland, was destroyed. All parties involved knew that a family of red squirrels were nesting in the trees.

@BBCJohnBeattie Just booked the Moray coast for a week in August. Prices and availability fine. Lovely part of Scotland and avoids the worst of the midges at that time of year.
If you’re in North Uist it’s definitely worth stopping in at the Hebridean Smokehouse in Clachan. As well as the great smoked fish (we had the peat smoked mackerel which was delicious) they stock the best chilli jam I’ve ever had, homemade in North Uist.
