There was a lot in that sequence that echoed Return of the Jedi. Jod went through the bits of the roles of Palpatine, Vader, and Luke Skywalker all in one episode. It was so clearly intentional. The way they all came out of the elevator to a dark room with red ambient lighting. The scene where Jod tells the group to “look outside” and they witness the battle. The scene where Jod is using the force to pull back Wendle’s hand, torture as profound as the force lightning. Jod tossing the gun to the side the same way Luke tosses the lightsaber. It was all very intentional and the fact that Jod essentially went through all three of those characters shows how conflicted he is.
