The Cerros del Sira, Peru, are known to hold a diverse assemblage of endemic birds, amphibians & plants, yet its mammalian community remains largely unknown. @Ruthmerypillco's @ExplorationSira team ventured into the depths of the Sira Communal Reserve to research this further.
On our expeditions we love exploring the rugged mountain range to uncover its rare and unique biodiversity. We also love meeting the native communities that surround Sira who are alwasy interested in our work! #cameratraps#explorationsira#exploration@SES_explore@ABCbirds

Our team member @AndyRainforest visited the @ABCbirds this week to share our latest expedition results. This included new records of the Masked Flowerpiercer and the Deep-Blue Flowerpiercer for the Sira area! #birds#peru#cerrosdelsira
Our bird biologist, Diego was woken up the most perfect way on the expedition... hearing the call of the critically endangered and endemic, Sira Curassow! A special species of bird he dreams of seeing. And one of the unique and rare species #TeamSira is researching! #peru
We've received the most amazing news from #FFNwinner2014 Caleb Ofori today. After years of hard work to protect the Togo Slippery Frog, Ghana has now established 847 acres (!) of land as protected area, so the frogs are not threatened with habitat loss anymore!
While camping at 1500m in the #siracommunalreserve the @ExplorationSira team was lucky to find the beautiful and endemic species of frog for the Sira mountains, the purple-sided leaf frog Phyllomedusa baltea, which sadly is listed as #endangered mainly due habitat loss #Peru
