WE MAY BE WATCHING THE BEGINNING OF THE BIGGEST TECHNOLOGICAL SHIFT IN HUMAN HISTORY.
Imagine a factory where robots don't need to be programmed for every single movement. You simply tell a robot what needs to be done, and the AI figures out how to accomplish the task. The same underlying intelligence could potentially be adapted to construction, logistics, agriculture, healthcare, or household work.
Artificial intelligence is taking the next step - but this time, AI is getting a body.
This is the idea behind embodied intelligence: instead of an AI that only exists inside a computer, we can build systems that see the physical world, understand what is happening around them, make decisions, learn from experience, and physically interact with their environment.
That could completely change the meaning of automation.
For most of human history, technology helped us extend our physical abilities. Machines gave us more strength, allowed us to build faster, travel farther, and produce things on a massive scale. Then computers changed the equation by giving machines the ability to store information, calculate, and process enormous amounts of data.
And this leads to a much bigger question than whether robots will replace certain jobs.
What happens when intelligence itself becomes scalable?
A human worker needs years of education and training before becoming highly skilled. A sufficiently capable AI system could potentially be copied, upgraded, and deployed across thousands or millions of machines. Improvements made to one system could eventually be transferred to an entire fleet.
That creates something economists have worried about for decades: a world where the cost of performing many economically useful tasks falls dramatically.
The optimistic scenario is extraordinary. If robots perform more of the dangerous, repetitive, and physically exhausting work, humans could gain enormous amounts of free time and productivity. Entire industries could become cheaper, faster, and more accessible.
But there is another possibility.
If machines become capable of performing a huge percentage of the tasks that currently generate income for humans, society may have to rethink one of its oldest assumptions: that people need to sell their labor in order to survive.
That is where the future becomes much more complicated.
The challenge may no longer be whether we can build these machines. The challenge could be figuring out how an economy and society should function when human labor is no longer the primary source of production.

Physical AI could combine the two - machines with both intelligence and a body.
And if that happens, the robot in this video won't look like a futuristic experiment.
It may look like the first rough version of something that becomes completely normal in our everyday lives.
