LaMelo is best when you surround him with shooters and athletes. Charlotte getting rid of him is a bit strange...except that they owe him 3yrs and he wants a 2yr extension. They were playing really well down the stretch.
You would think you'd want Melo AND Naz Reid versus LaMelo and Ayo. That's why I think something was screwed up there.
I don't think LaMelo is the "adult" that Ant needs running with him. They might make for a fun team to watch, but in playoff basketball? We'll see.
Agreed, but he's a co-star. He's being paid the Max and they gave up a bunch of picks/swaps for him.
Idk...They need to make some new moves. I'm not sure they do that Ayo deal if they KNOW they have Melo. So now you've got a lot of money tied up in your guards and nothing left for another Naz replacement.
I like Coby, but he hasn't showed us anything yet to suggest he could be an ANT running mate.
Melo has at least shown flashes and can get you 25 and 8...He's going to control pace and get shooters open looks. Does he play defense? ehhh...They need additional help.
@NickFriedell Couldn't he have stayed on 1 more year at the same money or split it into 2 years and he's Udonis Haslem for the final year at worst๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ. They should have enough roster spots to keep him AND continue getting younger.
@jpegknicksBTW@VicNobu@TommyBeer You do realize this is a thread where the OP was the one making the ridiculous distinction between an opinion and a statement. You responded to me--and I never said she shouldn't be called out.
Okay...yeah I saw that. It was Perk who said..."Nah, they got a dude"...She said "Who?"...He said "Brunson"...
She then interrupted to make a broader point about why she said that...
"I have a philosophy, can I tell you my philosophy"?
And she went on to spout the same philosophy most of the "brilliant" coaches have had (and taught her).
Can't win with "little guys"...
As a "little guy" hooping all my life, this narrative always annoyed me--but I'm not going to pretend it's some isolated, far out narrative. Especially not on a ESPN show where we constantly hear EX NBA players say conflicting things.
We lived through Iguodala getting the MVP when Steph averaged 25-5-5 man...This ain't really new.
The media was ITCHING to give that MVP to OG or KAT if the series got tied up 2-2 or Brunson didn't shut it down with that clinching performance.
I haven't seen her response, but to be fair, a lot of fans are acting like what she said originally was some obscure opinion. So she's just not bowing to the pressure, because the pressure is a bit ridiculous.
Like...she's wrong. Jalen was historic and she didn't think he could be. But Barkley says 10 of these per season๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ. Rightly or wrongly--she's defensive having 10 million "It's brick outside, timberland wearing ninjas" coming at her ๐.
If these fans were so sure--show the stubs where you put money on it.
@Gordon_Bombae@TommyBeer Right, that would be accurate. Trying to change her moral obligation because it " wasn't an opinion" makes no sense. Just say I hated her opinion and it sucked. ๐
@957thegame@DDDGURU@SteinyGuru957 They went to and won a championship with Jordan Poole who is now on the 26 win team.
I'm just saying... Good players come from bad situations all the time.
