@tjsharpe7 @Marisha_Ray@jamesjhaeck I agree. I just see people flippantly throw the term aground to discredit and dismiss legit opinions that they don’t agree with.
@Durk88000353 @Wizards_DnD@JeremyECrawford@CriticalRole@matthewmercer Agreed....And it’s ok to be disappointed. People got exited about a new book and got a fandom release that doesn’t fill a void beyond that. I’m sure the Critter will love it and it will bring a ton of people a ton of new players to the game!
@matthewmercer@SageAdviceDnD End of the day its good for WOTC and the product. But the old “I know the ‘OLD HHEADS. ‘are disappointed” is dismissive. People were exited/had expectations & got a fandom release that doesn’t fill a void beyond that. Disappointed doesn’t equal out of touch.
@BeholderPie 1st-haven’t seen anyone say this will destroy D&D? And while I’m disappointed I think this will do the opposite for the product. Smart business move. There a zillion critters that haven’t yet played and this will get them to buy product.
@Durk88000353 @Wizards_DnD@JeremyECrawford@CriticalRole@matthewmercer My point is. Without the fandom and potential to get them involved and buying product I don’t see WOTC releasing this book. I have read and seen the interviews. I still don’t think it offers enough of a fresh take.
@LichVile @H3ph43stus413 @coffeeanddice@Wizards_DnD@CriticalRole@matthewmercer In a nut shell, IMO, this was a way to grab on to huge community and get them into the game, buying product, which is a smart move but Imagine this setting without the fandom...? Would it warrant an official book?
@LichVile @H3ph43stus413 @coffeeanddice@Wizards_DnD@CriticalRole@matthewmercer There’s no way WOTC isn’t fully involved in the structure and balance of this book. And I don’t think it’s all about putting out ‘classic’or ‘old’ settings, that’s a cop out. It’s about putting out unique settings. This is pretty standard high fantasy.
