SECRETARY RUBIO: You see Cubans go all over the world and find success except in Cuba. We need to change the system that runs the country, and we need to change the economic model that it's following. That's the only way forward if Cuba wants a better future.
SECRETARY RUBIO: Any reporting on Cuba that you didn't get from me or the President is a liar. Cuba’s economy needs to change, and their economy can’t change unless the system of government changes.
The sound of pots and pans echoing across Cuba is the sound of a dictatorship cracking.
The regime is isolated, out of lifelines, and collapsing in real time. This is a historic moment, but what comes next matters.
For Cuba, there can be no peace without justice.

Honored to have joined this insightful conversation & to have met @BudrysKestutis.
We ended with a tour of the Freedom Tower, where both my parents were processed as children fleeing Cuba. It was a special, full-circle moment while working in Congress against authoritarianism.
It was an honor to host Lithuania’s Foreign Minister, Kęstutis Budrys, @MDCollege, a powerful reminder that democracy is both a shared value and a shared responsibility, and that it must be protected, strengthened, and lived every day.
At MDC, Democracy’s College, these values deeply resonate; like Lithuania, we believe education is the foundation of a thriving democracy, where informed citizens are shaped, diverse voices are heard, and each generation learns not only the rights of freedom, but the responsibility to protect and strengthen it, just as Lithuania’s story of courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to freedom offers a compelling blueprint for the Americas through education, civic engagement, and global dialogue. It was great to be joined by Trustee Marcell Felipe and our partnership with the World Affairs Council.
Some reports say 12,000 have been slaughtered in Iran.
That’s enough to fill an entire football field, packed tightly, shoulder to shoulder. ALL DEAD.
This is EVIL.
When regimes butcher their people, the United States should act.
We are the leaders of the free world, and thank God we finally have a President who is acting like it!
Any regime that SLAUGHTERS peaceful protesters is evil. Iranians are asking for one of the most basic human rights, the right to be heard.
These actions show cowardice, and prove why the Iranian regime must go. Just like in Cuba, Venezuela and North Korea, there is nothing dictators fear more than the voice of their people.
Freedom should know no borders. The Iranian government should immediately stop harming, arresting and silencing protestors. Their actions show United States must stand with the people and empower their cries for liberty!
Venezuelans remember life before socialism. Cubans remember life before communism. Iranians remember life before the Ayatollahs.
Today, Iran’s terror empire is weaker than ever. Their terrorist proxies around the world have been destroyed and now a key link in their axis of evil, Iran’s partnership with Maduro’s Venezuela is cracking.
Iranians deserve democracy. They deserve their country back. I stand with the protesters and hope the United States will help them to freedom. Evil never wins in the end!
I hope people now understand. The President of the United States is not a game player. When he tells you he's going to do something and address a problem, he means it.
On the 24th anniversary of 9/11, we honor the lives lost, the heroes who emerged, and the resilience of the American spirit.
America will never forget.
My prayers are with the family of Charlie Kirk who was assassinated yesterday. Nothing should be more sacrosanct in our democracy than the free exchange of views and respect for political differences.
We mourn his loss and must take this moment to remind ourselves that political violence is a stain on our democracy.
May Charlie Kirk rest in peace.
The Polish government honored Berta Soler and the Ladies in White for their courage with the Walesa Solidarity Prize in Miami. Lech Walesa’s son was in attendance along with the Polish Deputy PM and Secretary of State Rubio. A wonderful event supporting democracy and liberty.
Honored to join @radeksikorski as the Polish government recognized Cuban pro-democracy leader Berta Soler of @DamasdBlanco with the prestigious Lech Wałęsa Solidarity Prize. Launched in 2014, the award is given to brave leaders with outstanding achievements in promoting and defending democracy and civil liberties.

When I was @GMA in 2015, I had the honor of meeting President Carter while helping produce an interview.
I was moved by his kindness & how generous he was with his time. We had a long chat that felt surreal as a 21-year-old poli sci undergrad. He clearly spent every year of his life after the White House working hard to live a life of virtue & make the world a better place.
Thank you for your service, President Carter!
Huge congratulations to my friend @marcorubio on his nomination for Secretary of State!
As Cuban Americans from Miami & members of the exile community, we share a commitment to fighting communism & protecting freedom.
Marco will restore American leadership abroad!
