DEFEATING TRUMPISM IS NOT ENOUGH: DEMOCRATS MUST DELIVER FOR WORKING FAMILIES
Donald Trump is the most dangerous president in American history and Democrats must do everything possible to roll back his disastrous policies.
But running against Trump is not enough. The American people are hurting and they want to see a pro-working class agenda that will provide meaningful improvements to their lives. Democrats must have the courage to take on Oligarchy, corporate greed and a corrupt campaign finance system. No more incrementalism, no more same-old, same-old failed establishment policies that simply make the rich even richer.
Democrats must restore faith in democracy and the belief that government can work for working families and not just the billionaire class. Our job is to expand our progressive grassroots movement so that when Democrats regain power they must:
✅ Pass Medicare for All and guarantee health care to every person in our country as a human right.
✅ Increase the minimum wage to $20 an hour and pass legislation making it easier for workers to join unions.
✅ Raise taxes on the billionaire class and large profitable corporations.
✅ Lower housing costs by building 7 million units of low income and affordable housing.
✅ Provide free tuition at public colleges and universities.
✅ Get billionaire funded super PACs out of elections.
✅ Create millions of jobs by moving our energy system away from fossil fuels to energy efficiency and sustainable energy.
✅ Protect the American people from the existential and economic threats of AI.
✅ Cut military spending, end “endless wars,” and stop all U.S. military aid to Israel.
I fully back this call from Labour members.
Palantir’s co-founder claimed “the NHS makes people sick”.
Serious concerns surround its human rights record.
Yet it's running the NHS' data platform.
The Government must use the break clause to kick out Palantir.

I held a really productive meeting with the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany, H.E. Dr. Johann Wadephul in the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Our discussions focused on deepening Ghana–Germany relations and advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
At the heart of our engagement was railway infrastructure and engineering as Ghana seeks strategic partners to revamp our rail transport.
We also discussed economic cooperation including opportunities for German companies to expand their operations in Ghana.
We exchanged views on migration and labour mobility, including a follow up of ongoing negotiations on developing structured labour exchange programmes to create legal pathways for skilled Ghanaian workers to access opportunities in Germany.
On irregular migration and the need to address its underlying drivers we agreed that through skills development, education and employment opportunities we can resolve the causal factors.
I commended the German Government for its positive engagement on Ghana’s reparatory justice agenda, particularly cooperation on the return and restitution of cultural properties and heritage.
I thank Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul for the invitation to pay a working visit to Germany to conclude an implementation strategy for the important matters we discussed.
For God and Country 🇬🇭 🙏🏾

Empowered women have spoken, often and eloquently, about becoming. Becoming more, becoming better, becoming all that we are capable of being. It has become a powerful chorus that resonates deeply with women everywhere.
Yesterday, on the floor of the United Nations, President John Mahama spoke to the community of nations about something equally fundamental: belonging.
Belonging, in its widest and deepest sense, is about the recognition of our shared humanity. That every human being black or white, male or female is equal in dignity and worth. That no person, no nation and certainly no institution should consider itself superior to another.
He spoke candidly about the inequalities that persist in our international system: inequalities in debt negotiations, in representation on the Security Council, in global trade and health financing, and in the manner in which conflicts and serious matters between states are addressed.
He also reminded the world of the enduring pain of the transatlantic slave trade and slavery. The recognition last year that slavery constitutes the gravest crime against humanity was an important step in confronting that history and reaffirming a simple truth: human beings must never be trafficked, sold for profit, used as collateral or reduced to mere chattels.
In the words of Prime Minister Mia Mottley, perhaps we must learn to live and let live to create a world in which every human being, irrespective of race or circumstance, can truly belong.
President Mahama also drew attention to the imbalances in global trade, health financing and the financial conditions imposed on developing countries. He called for greater equity, transparency and accountability in the international system, and for more representative global institutions.
But importantly, he also turned the mirror towards Africa.
African leaders, he reminded us, have a responsibility to do right by their own people to ensure that national resources are distributed fairly and that citizens receive the full benefit of the opportunities and resources available to their countries. Fairness and equity must not only be demanded from the world; they must also be practised at home.
He referenced countries such as Cuba, whose people continue to bear the consequences of sanctions, and called on the United Nations to be more proactive in addressing measures that cause hardship and suffering to ordinary citizens.
The speech was warmly received, and perhaps its most enduring message is one that extends beyond the walls of the United Nations.
We may not transform the world overnight through the speeches we deliver in this august Assembly. But we can choose the truths we speak, the injustices we confront, and the responsibilities we accept.
And as citizens, we too have a role to play.
Let us be more patriotic. More nationalistic. More modest in our expectations and more generous in our contribution. Let us demand more of ourselves and deliver more for our nations and our people.
Because belonging is not only about having a place at the table. It is also about ensuring that others have a place there too.
As President Mahama so poignantly reminded the world:
“The world may not transform overnight because of the speeches we deliver in this august assembly, but history will faithfully recall the truths we chose to speak and the silences we chose to keep.”

The world may not transform overnight because of the speeches delivered in this August Assembly. But history faithfully records the truth we choose to speak, and the silence we choose to keep, when we are granted the privilege of addressing this global town hall. #UNGA81

🔺 Lavrov accused Western countries of relying on force and unpredictable actions in pursuing their interests.
