What a shitshow with all these 5-second penalties for speeding!
It seems the reason is that drivers are cutting the pit lane entry and exit, which shortens the measured distance compared to the time it takes to cover it.
But Gasly and the others are surely well under 60 kph limit, so how can they even get a penalty for speeding? I'm also not sure if cutting the line inside the pit lane is actually against the rules...
Protests are definitely incoming. Russell even got a penalty for not serving an incorrect penalty... #MonacoGP
@F1_Newsletter@FPL_rusko imagine you had an average speed zone on a slightly windy road and because there was no traffic coming in the other direction you straight lined the bends even if you didn’t exceed the limit you would get from the start of the zone to the end too fast.
F1 is truly a magnificent sport. 76 years of racing multiple times per year, but there is still something that we never seen before.
It’s understood that this was discussed between teams and the FIA during the weekend and some drivers were even warned before the race to be careful of their positioning down the pitlane.
And we still ended with absolute Clownfiesta again. 👏

@McShauno On the every other track, sensors measuring pit lane speed is on straight, i think some drivers attacked it under a weird angle, causing wrong measurements
@Deb_CA4now@RBR_Daily also 2 time Indy500 winner, ChampCar champion, almost IndyCar champion again in his 40s and multiple F1 race winner, Nascar race winner...
A reminder for Juan Pablo Montoya’s haters:
He actually won in everything he raced in — F1, NASCAR, Indy 500 (twice, as both a young and older driver), Champ Car, on both ovals and road courses.
@RBR_Daily For Montoya's haters: he actually won in everything he was sitting in (F1, NASCAR, Indy500 twice as young and old too, ChampCar, ovals and road courses)...
Max won more titles and races, but only in F1....
@storey966 Yeah Toto said something about smooth surfaces doesn’t suit George. But top championship contender should be on podium at not his best tracks too.
OK. George Russell officially has a huge problem. Not only this season, but one that could hinder his whole career.
This time, no unlucky Safety Car or technical problems, only lacking pace compared to a 19-year-old kid. Again. #MiamiGP
How to EASILY fix current F1 rules before the next GP:
Get rid of the super-clipping bullshit (aka cars slowing down 50 kph in the middle of a straight) and allow battery re-charging ONLY under braking.
Switch to ECU power only by default and let drivers—not AI or computers—decide when to deploy the remaining 50% of electric boost by pressing the button like KERS.
Problem solved.
Yes, cars will be slower — but at least they’ll stop slowing down in the middle of the f***ing straight.
We’ll still get overtakes (thanks to different energy levels at the same point on track), but they won’t feel artificial — and we won’t see that ridiculous 3–4 re-passes in 1–2 corners.
