From what I've seen, a lot of newer fans also hope these regulations don't last much longer because they've taken away some of what made F1 so exciting.

As one of those "new" fans (I've been watching since 2019, though I'm still considered new by many), I can safely say this is absolute rubbish.

I want the data. I want to learn about the technical side of the sport. And I want to see breathtaking overtakes—not endless "Yo-yoing"

Well, according to F1 boss Stefano Domenicali... no one is interested in them.

So I think Domenicali is wrong. He's trying to convince everyone that new fans don't care about the data or the technical side of F1, but that's simply not true.
I can't speak for every new fan, but many of us do care about the engineering, strategy, and technical side.

And then... one press of the overtake button, and Kimi drove past as if it were an F1 car overtaking an F2 car. It was such an anti-climax. I wanted to see them fight it out through multiple corners, not have the battle decided instantly by energy deployment

Take the Silverstone Sprint, for example. You had all the buildup: Kimi closing in on Lewis, everyone getting excited. A future world champion taking on a seven-time world champion—it had all the ingredients for an incredible battle.

This year, it almost looks like something I could do—not that I actually could, of course, but it just doesn't look as spectacular.

Not every race has been bad, but I honestly don't remember many standout moments either.

For me, F1 has been significantly less interesting this year. Qualifying doesn't look nearly as impressive anymore. It's those insanely late-braking moments into the corners that make the hairs on my arms stand up. I can't imagine braking that late.

I also hoped that, especially early in the season, drivers would be free to decide for themselves when and how much energy to deploy during the race. That would have added a real strategic element instead of having everything feel so predetermined.
