Boyle: I genuinely believe Trump is the most successful con man in American history. This is his latest con. You and I both know, for the reasons you just outlined, that Donald Trump ordering something via social media does not make it law and does not mean it’s going to happen.

But he’s trying to con people. He wants the casual viewer to say, “Oh, this is great. Donald Trump’s sticking up for me. He’s capping my credit card interest,” and he’s hoping that person will believe the con.

Then it’ll be forgotten about, and that person will move on to something else. The media will move on to cover the next shiny object. And Trump is hoping that same person will come back at election time and say, “Yeah, I like that Donald Trump. He brought down my credit card costs,” even though you and I both know it’s total bullshit.

BREAKING: A newly obtained recording from Dec. 7, 2020 exposes Trump pressuring Georgia House Speaker David Ralston to call a special legislative session to OVERTURN the election he lost.

Trump even coached him on the cover story, telling Ralston to claim it’s “for transparency” and “to uncover fraud.” Then the most damning line:

“Who’s gonna stop you for that?”

Ralston’s reply says it all: “A federal judge, possibly.”

This was a sitting president actively probing how to illegally nullify an election, and joking about whether the courts could stop him.

Let’s make sure everyone understands the facts with Kimmel.

As the right is trying to paint this as “at-will” termination.

-Nextar the parent company of Kimmel’s show is seeking FCC approval for a merger.

-Kimmel made comments about Trump on Monday night (months after Trump openly said he wanted to get Kimmel fired next)

-Reporting is that Trump had the FCC lean on Nextar over these comments.

-Apparently they expressly used the line “we can do this the easy way, or the hard way”

-Multiple executives at the network have on background said they “had no issue with Kimmel’s statements but the Trump threat loomed” referring to the merger.

This was *NOT* a network dissatisfied with Kimmel.

This was *NOT* a network embarrassed or horrified by what Kimmel said.

This was *NOT* a network that thought he was unfunny, or underperforming.

This was *NOT* a company freely choosing to fire an employee.

This was expressly the federal government weaponizing federal departments, in retribution for someone being critical of the President.

This is LITERALLY what the 1st Amendment exists for.

It does not protect you from private actions by private entities.

It protects you from actions by the government to censor your speech.

Whether brazen and direct, or through coercion and threat.

This is not about if Kimmel was offensive or not.
