Lebanon may have the foundations of a promising attacking line for the years ahead. But hope alone is not enough. We cannot keep relying on hope. What Lebanese football needs is a clear strategy, proper planning, and long-term vision.
Jimmy Kazan’s performance against Yemen highlighted three important realities:
1️⃣ Lebanon has young talent. However, these players need to challenge themselves in competitive environments abroad rather than settle for the false comfort of the Lebanese league. Kazan’s move to
integration as many successful national teams have done, it must be done thoughtfully and on merit.
3️⃣ Identifying young talent in Lebanon must become a top priority.
Yesterday was yet another painful experience for Lebanese fans. Yet Kazan gave us a reason to be hopeful.
The defeat against Yemen is the logical outcome of three recurring issues:
1️⃣ There is no magic fix for most of the players who have consistently underperformed.
2️⃣ Deep structural rot: lack of strategy, weak clubs, and a stagnant federation.
The federation needs a real strategy... look at what other nations have done. It doesn't take massive funding, and if it does, you’re friends with FIFA, habibi. The second step is to take the "Italy-style" hard decisions, and khalas.

the opportunity to show their support for the players and head coach Madjid Bougherra.
At the same time, competition remains intense on the training ground as the players continue to adapt to the new methods introduced by the Algerian coach and his staff.

The Lebanese national team continues its preparations in Doha ahead of the decisive match against Yemen on June 4, with a place in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup at stake.
The atmosphere within the squad is positive, while the visit of young fans provided a welcome boost, giving them
It is also worth remembering that Lebanon has often operated with a defensive system in which attacking players were frequently used out of position.
What is certain is that competition for places in the attacking sector will become extremely intense.

Left-winger Ali Al-Hajj (25) is one of the surprise names in the squad. This is undoubtedly a golden opportunity for him to finally establish himself as an undisputed member of the Lebanese national team.
In 13 appearances, he has scored only one goal.
However, statistics alone do not tell the full story. He has not started a match since June 2023, and his average playing time per game has been just 33 minutes.
He still has two important steps to take:
-shine with Lebanon’s senior national team
-move to a more competitive league
And honestly, I believe both can happen before the end of this year.
Leonardo Farah Shahin didn’t get the opportunity to prove himself under Miodrag Radulović.
Shahin played with Lebanon’s U23 side in January 2026 and absolutely shined. Against three strong teams, Uzbekistan, South Korea, and Iran ,he scored four goals.
In my opinion, the 22-year-old forward has been Lebanon’s standout player so far in 2026. In Sweden’s second division, he has already scored 6 goals in 8 matches.
