@djlfc_66@BiasedCR7Fan ignore it, they just like Ronaldo more, no serious person believes he's better than or greater than Messi, on any scale you want, besides good looks and ability to speak English, Messi clears π
@of_darkness88@KrystoKing your best argument is to appeal to what heretics had to say? Christianity has zero problems with slavery, the ancient churches had no problem with it either. the Bible literally commands Israelites to enslave people at times.
@of_darkness88@KrystoKing as I said, the Church during Gregory's time didn't have a problem with it.
Jesus never preached against it.
Ephesians 6:9 literally proves my point, it's regulated, not abolished. that same verse orders slaves to obey their masters.
@KrystoKing no, it was perfectly allowed, you have a whole manual on how to run the whole operation in the OT, never condemned anywhere.
the Church had no problem with it during Gregory's time.
Islam doesn't face problems regarding that, because Islam didn't abolish slavery.
@KrystoKing and yes, obviously I have to be born and witness the terrible consequences of murder in order to be avoid it, and to know it can not align with any definition of good.
@KrystoKing what's sinful isn't so obvious as murder though is it? terrible comparison, Christian ethics wouldn't have evolved if that made any sense.
you mentioned Gregory of Nyssa, wonder what the Church thought about slavery and child marriage in the 4th century?
@KrystoKing the Bible gives instructions on how to own and treat slaves, it commands Israelites to enslave people from surrounding nations in specific contexts, don't act like it was this moral gray area, it was perfectly allowed.
@KrystoKing you're still missing the main point, the movement was started worldwide during the age of enlightenment, when Europe became less and less religious, even if for the sake of argument 90% of Christians were with it, doesn't change the fact that was perfectly allowed.
@KrystoKing but how can you know all of these things without knowing sin and avoiding it? and ofc Islam isn't compatible with modern ethics, because it hasn't evolved for 1400 years, Christianity keeps changing to introduce changes that contradict old beliefs on what God wants.
@KrystoKing slavery is still not abolished in Christianity, it was abolished by secular westerners, just because a few priests supported that doesn't mean it was what Christianity preached.
rape, theft, murder, adultery, all these weren't given by God, yet they were abolished by him?
@KrystoKing talk about ad hoc, Jesus offered the healing for everyone, anyone who is baptised into the one true church and lives an actively pious life is healed day by day, right? surely that's by ensuring everyone is warned of sin? you're saying even the church didn't know it was sin
@KrystoKing that doesn't answer my question, why does Christ allow humans to believe it was fine post puberty for thousands of years instead of ending the practice outright? why wait for scientific knowledge? isn't revelation a part of truth as well?
@KrystoKing that's good and all, but what "woman" means changed alot across eras, you're catholic as far as I remember and it wasn't far off that the Church allowed marriage beginning from the age of 12, how is such a matter left to eventual scientific knowledge and not revelation?
