Recently, out of the blue I got a call from @DKMS_uk - the charity that helps people with blood cancer. I'd forgotten that 5yrs ago I did a cheek swab... but the call was to say I was a possible match for someone in urgent need of stem cell or bone marrow transplant.

It's a chance to help someone survive who wouldn't otherwise. Unfortunately, having just been through the next stage, I've been ruled out of donating.

Agree with the thread but this is the most important part. Doesn't matter if you didn't know or bother to know enough about KF. We came VERY close to a FM who would have voted against equal marriage. Every one of those voters can get their ignorance away from my body and choices.
