Back in August we told you the documentary was heading out to festivals and streaming platforms, and that all we could do after that was wait.

We got our first yes!

Take Me to Mars is an Official Selection at the 2026 Salt City Film Fest.

There's a laurel with his name on it now. The real kind, the kind filmmakers frame.

And look at the poster: starring Mars the pygmy hippo and keeper Sierra. He's the lead. Our founders, our keepers, the people who drove across the country to meet him, they're all supporting cast in a movie about a hippo.

Mars, for his part, is completely unbothered. He's been busy having his first mornings out on the habitat by himself while Posie gets used to being a little farther away.

The festival runs September 26 in Wichita. We don't have our screening block yet, and the second we do, you'll hear it here first.
