@TheBrancaShow Per capita rates may be higher, but that doesn't mean they are a majority in the military. They aren't because the absolute population is smaller.
The idea was that the undergraduate degree would teach them the basic science on which medicine is based, so the medical skills can be concentrated on in medical school. The reality is that takes at most 2 years not 4, and being "well rounded" is generally not an attribute that really carries much weight in getting into medical school. You are quite right that it is mostly a waste of time and money.
In medicine the key to good care is the correct diagnosis. Those who can come up with that correct diagnosis are actually quite rare. Once the diagnosis is known less perceptive/analytical providers can supply the appropriate technical care. We don't value those skilled diagnosticians enough. Too many medicos decide the diagnosis within minutes of first meeting their patients, based on the medico's own prejudices, and biases, and never consider again whether they got it right. A lot of "sub-clinical" malpractice occurs because of that.
@SamaHoole Sous vide works but that's a lot of work too. Chicken breast is one of my least favorite things, along with turkey breast (unless deep fried.)
@PhoebesMom2020@JustineBateman They don't need to condemn Islam, but celebrating Ramadan at the palace and acting as if Islam is completely compatible with British values shouldn't be done. They should have no public opinion at all.
@PhoebesMom2020@JustineBateman While true, the Royal Family does not need to pretend that the Muslim immigrants are just like every other Briton. While it may be "impolitic" to condemn the Muslims raping all the girls, they can at least not talk as if Islam seamlessly integrates into British society.
@SaltWater651@BasedMikeLee While true, they then have to find a new leader and that is rarely easy. There are too many squishes in the Senate to end up with anyone better.
Besides that we don't have as many Muslims, they don't live in such close proximity to the white population who move when the numbers get up there. But also the males of American families will do their best to beat to death or shoot the perpetrators, and will often not face serious issues for doing so.
@SartorialThug Yes, and I actually like it. But just as many don't like grits, many don't like haggis either. I'm not particularly a grits fan but biscuits and gravy can be really good.
@JohnnyAGI@w_terrence Then buy a ticket and leave, if you can find a country that will let you in on a permanent basis. (It's not as easy as it sounds.)
He hasn't but it isn't so clear his wife has not. This investigation began under Biden, possibly to damage any possible primary run Newsom might have been contemplating.
@TheBrancaShow@JenResistedAGN Those women didn't just LET rich, influential men do it, they'd ENCOURAGE them to do it, hoping such behavior would help their careers. There are golddiggers in all professions, mostly women but some men (think John Kerry.)
@CynicalPublius This kind of woke-pandering is why I gave up on watching any major league sport. Baseball was my favorite and the last I abandoned. I am disappointed in their gutlessness. They should have taken no position one way or the other. Sports shouldn't mix with politics.
Not in Western states terms, but for us it's a twenty minute ride to the nearest hospital or grocery store. Population density is low enough that running transit systems isn't economically feasible. 100 years ago there were trains, but that was more for moving goods than people.
@CynicalPublius@BlueBoxDave Have contempt for the person who said it, not those who were standing around when it was said. Lots of people say lots of stupid things. We don't have speech or thought police; other people's opinions about what was said is irrelevant.
