Overnight, Russia launched another wave of attacks on Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia, during which six people were killed. Notably, North Korean ballistic missiles were used.

Ukrainian intelligence now believes North Korean missile units are operating from western Russia, while Kyiv estimates that 30,000 to 50,000 North Koreans could eventually be deployed in support of Russia. North Korea is moving beyond supplying ammunition and missiles toward direct operational involvement.

What has been obvious for some time is that Ukraine has been fighting the Russia-North Korea-Iran-China axis. Europe still treats this as a regional issue, while Washington continues to cosy up to Putin, with FBI Director Kash Patel reportedly planning to visit Moscow in October at the invitation of the FSB.

We are sleepwalking into a major crisis that could escalate beyond our control because we are unwilling to provide credible deterrence to prevent Russia from dragging more players into the conflict, or to internalize that Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea are mutually reinforcing adversaries demonstrating increasing levels of military, industrial, and political coordination.
