6 months on from the transfer of administration to Capita, FDA's Adrian Prandle spoke to @CSWnews about the ongoing pensions crisis, cautioning that he is “hopeful but not confident” that Capita will hit contractual service levels by the end of June.

As reported here by @BBCNews, our research with @thefabians found less than a third of civil servants had been consulted on how AI could be rolled out, meaning change is being done to workers, not with them.

“Unless Pat Sheehan can substantiate these claims, he should withdraw them and apologise without delay. Sinn Féin must also take responsibility. The party, including the First Minister, should make it unequivocally clear that such comments are unacceptable. Failure to act will only serve to undermine public confidence in the government.”
@FDA_NI calls on Pat Sheehan to apologise, and for the First Minister to make clear that Sheehan’s comments that Stormont officials “tell lies” and “gaslight” are unacceptable.

This is a serious allegation against civil servants that has not been substantiated.
MLAs have every right to disagree with a policy objective but they do not have the right to undermine the integrity of impartial officials.
@PatSheehanMLA should apologise.
FDA members recently came together at One Great George Street in Westminster for their Annual Delegate Conference (ADC) 2026 🤝
Hear from our President Margaret Haig as she reflects on this year's conference. From debating and voting on the policies that will shape FDA's priorities for the year ahead, to Q&As and sessions with expert guest speakers including Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Darren Jones and i Paper’s Political Editor Caroline Wheeler, ADC 2026 was a day to remember.
Thank you to every delegate who attended and spoke on the day. Your voices and votes are integral to shaping our priorities and driving the union's work forward.

“Everyone is claiming AI is the answer. Its adoption, if done correctly, can surely deliver some benefits but it is not a panacea. The idea that at least half of so-called ‘back-office professions’ can be cut with no detrimental impact on services is just not credible.” - @FDAGenSec

We need a government where our staff are freed up from unnecessary form filling and bureaucracy, and are using tech to get stuff done quicker.
Great to speak civil servants at the @FDA_union conference this lunchtime on how I want us to do that and continue the hard work together.

Responding to a question from @FDAGenSec on how civil servants can be expected to take risks after the sacking of Sir Olly Robbins, @darrenpjones said: “We do as ministers want civil servants to take more risk but it has to be a shared risk. I don’t mind taking more risk if it means we’re innovating. Don’t discount risk. Highlight it, ask and put it in front of the minister.”
"Our job as ministers is to give you the tools that you need to succeed"
Referring to the FDA and @thefabians Adopt, Innovate, Transform report, @darrenpjones announced new AI training for civil servants to "seize the promise of technology" to improve public services.
